Job description

SUMMARY

Night Security Officers help create a safe, welcoming environment for our guests, employees, andproperty duringovernight hours. This role combines security patrols, guestassistance, emergency response, incident reporting, and light facilities support while working independently across the resort. This position will include 3 12-hour shifts per week.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESincludingthe following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Conducts patrols and periodic inspections of areas includinglodging rooms, parking lots, mechanical rooms, lifts, pool area, base area retail outlets, and othercommon areas.

  1. Immediately reports more serious problems such as fire, flooding, or power outages tothe on-call Facilities contact.

  1. Identifiesand addresses unauthorized or suspicious individuals on resort property.

  1. Monitors activities of guests and employees for unauthorized removal of company property.

  1. Enforces all city, county, state and federal lawsand/orordinances where applicable and contactsappropriate authorities when needed.

  1. Inspects all areas for safety and fire hazards andreportsdiscrepancies.Takesaction(s)as needed.

  1. Service guests' needs such as delivering towels, rollaway beds, etc. to their rooms (after hours).

  1. Performs minor after-hours maintenance and guest support tasks, such as replacing light bulbs orassisting with simple plumbing issues until Facilities personnel are available.

  1. Reports more serious problems to maintenance staff via telephone,email, verbally.More serious problems are defined as power outages, water leaks, propane gas odors, fire, frozen pipes,etc.

  1. Completes assigned daily reportsregardingstatusof resort security noting any irregularities found on the shift.

  1. Participatesin resort activities, training programs and meetings as directed by supervisor.

  1. Maintains a positive,professionaland enthusiastic attitude.

  1. Flexible working hours. Some job sharing may berequired.

  1. Assistwith snow removal operations asneeded;manually or mechanically (if qualified).

  1. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

RESPONSIBILITIES TO SAFETY

  1. Protect the safety of self-workers, and Grand Targhee Resort guests.

  1. Report any potentially harmful equipment or situations to the immediate supervisor without delay.

  1. Report safety-related accidents and incidents at once to immediate supervisor.

  1. Follow all company and department safety policies and procedures as outlined in the Resort's Occupational Safety & Health Compliance Manual and department-specific procedures or manuals.

  1. Operate equipment safelyso that it will not lead to injury to yourself or others.

  1. Drivein accordance withthe law and Grand Targhee Resort policies.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

WORK SCHEDULE

Due to the nature of the recreation industry, we are in operation seven days a week. This includes weekends andholidaysand there is no guarantee of hours. Flexible working hours may berequiredbased onthe businesslevels.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)andone to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Validdriver's licenseisrequired.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Security, law enforcement, military, hospitality, or customer service experience

  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add,subtract,multiply,and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, commonfractions,and decimals. Able to accurately read and make measurements.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read andcomprehendsimple instructions, shortcorrespondence,and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.Excellent verbal communication skills.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or verbal instructions.Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
