The Watergate Hotel is situated within walking distance of the best the city has to offer.

The Watergate Hotel is currently seeking an experienced security supervisor to join our team. Successful candidates must possess the following skills and experience:

General Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage daily security operations, including directing and assigning work to staff.
  • Organize and maintain compliance of City mandated life safety requirements
  • Must be able to conduct, facilitate, oversee and speak in meetings, training classes, etc...
  • Develop, implement, supervise and maintain safety programs and ensure that these programs are fresh and exciting for the management team and the department
  • Willing to work periodically in other departments to audit safety Procedures
  • Manage a staff; includes managing and conducting training, regular meetings and performance reviews, as well as recommendations and decision-making regarding discipline, compensation, promotion, hiring and other employment decisions.
  • Able to prepare accident reports and conduct accident investigations within the Company guidelines and requirements.
  • Participate in the management of Workers Compensation in conjunction with Human Resources
  • Supervise proper execution for modified duty programs
  • Perform assigned supervisory function to ensure delivery of quality service, maintain employee morale.
  • Prepare for and conduct pre shift meetings
  • Observe and evaluate subordinate activities on a day-to-day basis, in order to rate performance for later evaluations.
  • Counsel subordinates as necessary to improve individual performance.
  • Respond to emergency situations and make critical decisions to ensure the safety of guests, visitors and employees.
  • Provide leadership and supervision to ensure the efficiency of the departments operations.
  • Work towards the continuous improvement of the department by training, mentoring, supervising and developing subordinates.
  • Be first contact for emergency agencies such as, but not limited to, police department or fire department.
  • Fill open vacancies for special details and department needs if needed (i.e. Call offs) .
  • Complete daily paperwork.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
  • Ability to effectively transcribe information from handwritten memos and recordings
  • Perform assigned supervisory function to insure delivery of quality service, maintain associate morale.
  • Participate in hotel programs including but not limited to: operations meetings, lobby greeter program, general meetings.
  • Support the needs of a diverse clientele and building tenants.
  • Train, mentor, supervise and develop officers.
  • Be first contact for emergency agencies such as, but not limited to, police department or fire department.
  • Notify management to all major incidents occurring during the watch.
  • Fill open vacancies for any department needs if needed.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
  • Manage VIP details as needed and with absolute discretion
  • Perform other job related duties as assigned.

Experience and Requirements

  • 2+ years direct, related experience as a security officer in a hotel environment. Those with supervisory experience will be preferred.
  • Must posses a high school diploma.
  • Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position such as walking/standing for extended periods of time; lift/carry/push/pull in excess of 50+/- lbs.
  • Must be able to work a very flexible schedule that may include early mornings, late nights, overnights, weekends and holidays.
  • Familiar with computer systems as required by the department and the hotel operations
  • Stand and walk for long periods of time
  • Climb stairs and travel up and down several floors by foot as required
  • Ability to read, listen, and communicate effectively in the English (verbally and in writing, using correct grammar, spelling and sentence structure)
  • Must be able to remain calm under extreme pressure
  • Able to handle stressful situations in a multicultural environment
  • Maintain a calm demeanor while handling complicated issues
  • Able to work outdoors under extreme weather conditions
  • Handle sensitive situations in a respectful manner
  • Able to respond to emergency situations in a calm and collected manner
  • Coordinate safety emergencies with the local authorities as needed
  • Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy
