Resort Internships information

What is a resort internship?

Resort internships are temporary work placements offered by resorts to students or recent graduates interested in gaining hands-on experience in the hospitality and tourism industry. These internships typically involve working in various departments such as front desk, food and beverage, housekeeping, recreation, or guest services. Interns have the opportunity to learn about daily resort operations, interact with guests from around the world, and develop valuable skills for future careers. Most programs are structured for a specific duration, often during peak seasons, and may offer compensation, housing, or other benefits.

What responsibilities can I expect during a resort internship?

During a resort internship, you can expect to rotate through various departments such as front desk operations, housekeeping, food and beverage, and guest services. This hands-on exposure allows you to develop a well-rounded understanding of resort management and hospitality operations. Working closely with experienced staff, you'll gain practical skills in customer service, teamwork, and problem-solving—key competencies for advancing in the hospitality industry. These experiences not only build your resume but also help you identify your preferred career path within the resort sector.

What skills and qualifications are needed for a resort internship?

To thrive in Resort Internships, candidates typically need strong customer service abilities, organizational skills, and a foundational understanding of hospitality operations, often supported by enrollment in or completion of a hospitality or tourism-related program. Familiarity with property management systems, reservation software, and point-of-sale (POS) tools is commonly required. Exceptional communication, teamwork, and adaptability help interns excel in fast-paced, guest-focused environments. These skills and qualities are crucial for delivering outstanding guest experiences and supporting the smooth operation of resort services.
