Job description

Job Summary:

The House Manager is responsible for creating and maintaining a high-performance work environment characterized by positive leadership and strong team orientation. This role ensures that person-centered support and services are provided to assigned individuals. The House Manager works closely with the Residential District Director to address outstanding issues related to the assigned CRA home and ensures the health, safety, and well-being of individuals under their care.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain a high-performance work environment with positive leadership and strong team orientation.
  • Provide direct supervision to Support Staff for assigned home and complete annual performance evaluations.
  • Perform 24/7 on-call duties for assigned homes.
  • Conduct interviews and select candidates for open Direct Support Professional (DSP) positions.
  • Implement disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Maintain a low overtime average that does not exceed the budgetary goal.
  • Prepare, coordinate, and facilitate home staff meetings.
  • Set the tone for person-centered support and services provided to assigned individuals.
  • Ensure DSPs support individuals in daily living activities and social skills development in all environments.
  • Follow all instructions from healthcare professionals to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of individuals.
  • Report changes in individual conditions and any unusual occurrences to the Residential District Director in a timely manner.
  • Safeguard individual possessions, including managing financial ledgers for personal spending.
  • Assist individuals in maintaining order and cleanliness in their environments.
  • Ensure the implementation and documentation of Individual Support Plans (ISP) and Behavior Support Plans (BSP) as required.
  • Maintain effective communication regarding individuals' needs with appropriate personnel and supervisors.
  • Document services provided, including individualized service goals, behavior support tracking, required notes, and all other documentation.
  • Complete all service or program documentation as assigned by Residential District Directors.
  • Complete incident reports using the online system, ensuring all required information is included.
  • Transport individuals to medical appointments, community activities, and other events while ensuring safe transport and adherence to traffic laws.
  • Communicate with individuals' authorized circles of support and approved external entities (e.g., Support Coordinators).
  • Monitor and report environmental risks, hazards, or barriers to the Residential District Director.
  • Plan, prepare, and grocery shop for meals, following special diets and nutritional instructions.
  • Create bi-monthly menus ensuring individual preferences and diet specifications and prepare grocery lists.
  • Follow Supervised Self Administration of Medication (SSAM) and Proxy Caregiver procedures accurately.
  • Ensure all home staff complete scheduled and required training by the announced deadline.
  • Actively participate in the agencyโ€™s ongoing efforts to improve service quality and operational effectiveness.
  • Serve as a role model and mentor, demonstrating socially appropriate behaviors and coaching individuals using approved techniques.
  • Support individuals' existing relationships and increase their networks of friends and acquaintances.
  • Ensure individuals explore and express their interest in community membership.
  • Maintain HIPAA confidentiality requirements concerning the affairs of individuals served, staff, and the agency.

Minimum Training, Competency, and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least 1 year of experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Possess a Georgia Driverโ€™s License and acceptable Motor Vehicle Report (MVR).
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to serve as an advocate for individuals, understand and interpret written materials, prepare incident reports, and possess strong conflict resolution skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Regular lifting and carrying up to 30 pounds unassisted, including assisting individuals when required.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting, and sitting.
  • Some heavy lifting, pushing, and pulling exerted regularly throughout a work shift.

Preferred Qualifications:

    • Certification as a Certified Medical Assistant, Certified Nursing Assistant, or Certified Patient Care Tech.
