Job description


IMKO Workforce Solutions is currently seeking an experienced Residential Home Designer for a growing construction company in the Mexico/Fulton area to help turn customer ideas into detailed, functional, and buildable residential plans.
This person will work on-site at the company's office and collaborate closely with the owner, office manager, customers, and construction team to develop floor plans and formal construction drawings for custom homes and other residential building projects.The ideal candidate will have strong residential CAD experience, a solid understanding of home construction, and the ability to listen to a customer's ideas and translate them into practical designs. The company currently uses Chief Architect. Experience with Chief Architect is preferred, but candidates with strong residential CAD skills and the ability to learn new software will also be considered.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Meet with customers to understand their ideas, needs, and design preferences.
  • Create residential floor plans and formal construction drawings.
  • Develop and revise plans using CAD design software.
  • Work closely with the owner, office manager, customers, and construction team.
  • Make plan revisions based on customer feedback and construction requirements.
  • Help ensure designs are accurate, functional, and practical to build.
  • Create and maintain organized plan files, revisions, and approvals.
  • Assist with room layouts, exterior elevations, cabinetry, finishes, fixtures, and other design details as needed.
  • Identify potential design or construction concerns before work begins.
Required Qualifications
  • Previous experience creating residential home plans or construction drawings.
  • Strong CAD drafting and design skills.
  • Understanding of residential construction methods and plan requirements.
  • Ability to turn customer ideas, sketches, and conversations into formal designs.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good communication and customer-service skills.
  • Ability to manage revisions and collaborate with customers, office staff, and construction professionals.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience using Chief Architect.
  • Interior design or space-planning experience.
  • Custom-home, barndominium, pole-barn home, or post-frame design experience.
  • Experience creating floor plans, elevations, foundation plans, roof plans, or related construction documents.
  • Familiarity with residential building codes and permitting requirements.
Position Details
  • Monday - Thursday 8 am - 5 pm, Friday 8 am - 4 pm
  • $30-$35/hr DOE
