Research Teaching Assistant Jobs in Alaska (NOW HIRING)

The Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA) plays an important role in supporting the instructional mission of the department while advancing their own academic and professional development. Working under the guidance of faculty, the GTA assists with course delivery and student engagement activities that may include leading discussion or laboratory sections, facilitating review sessions, grading assignments and examinations, maintaining course records, and providing academic support to students during office hours.
This position offers graduate students the opportunity to strengthen their teaching, communication, leadership, and organizational skills while gaining valuable experience in higher education instruction. Successful candidates will demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, professionalism, subject matter expertise within their discipline, and a commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.
Successful Graduate Teaching Assistants are organized, dependable, and enthusiastic about supporting student learning and academic success. The ideal candidate communicates clearly and professionally with students, faculty, and staff while balancing teaching responsibilities with their own graduate coursework and research commitments.

Minimum Qualifications:
Awarded a bachelor's degree and pursuing a graduate degree at UAF
Enrolled at a minimum of 9 credits per semester
GPA of at least 3.0 or higher
Position Details:
This position is a part-time exempt student position. New hires will be placed on the appropriate graduate salary schedule based on the degree program you are enrolled in (Masters or Ph.D). This is a pooled position and will remain open for the Fall 2026 semester. A department will hire on an as needed basis. Submissions of an application does not guarantee a review or job offer.
