Riverside Overview
Riverside Research is an independent National Security Nonprofit dedicated to research and development in the national interest. We provide high-end technical services, research and development, and prototype solutions to some of the country's most challenging technical problems.

Position Overview
Produce clean, efficient code based on specifications. Work with developers to design algorithms and flowcharts. Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade existing systems. Identify, prioritize and execute tasks in the software development life cycle. Modify existing software to correct errors, to adapt it to new hardware, or to upgrade interfaces and improve performance. Monitor functioning of equipment to ensure system operates in conformance with specifications. Analyze user needs and software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints. Develop or direct software system testing or validation procedures. Direct software programming and development of documentation. Confer with systems analysts, engineers, programmers and others to design system and to obtain information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements and interfaces. Store, retrieve, and manipulate data for analysis of system capabilities and requirements.
Responsibilities
Understands and works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Determines methods and procedures on new assignments. Exercises judgment in selecting methods, evaluating, adapting of complex techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Work is reviewed upon completion and is consistent with departmental objectives. Networks with key contacts outside own area of expertise. Adapts style and uses persuasion in delivering messages that relate to the wider firm business. Frequently advises others on complex matters. May be accountable through team for delivery of tactical business targets.
Qualifications
Required
  • Active Secret Clearnace
  • A minimum of 8 years of related experience with a bachelor's degree, 6 years with a master's degree, a PhD with 3 years experience.
  • p]:inline" data-streamdown="list-item">Professional software-development experience using Java, Python, C++, C#, JavaScript, or a comparable language.
  • p]:inline" data-streamdown="list-item">Experience developing and integrating RESTful APIs, web services, or distributed applications.
  • p]:inline" data-streamdown="list-item">Working knowledge of software-development principles, data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design.
  • p]:inline" data-streamdown="list-item">Experience with source control and build or CI/CD tools such as Git, Maven, Gradle, Jenkins, or GitLab CI.
  • p]:inline" data-streamdown="list-item">Ability to work independently, prioritize assignments, and communicate effectively in writing and verbally.

Preferred
  • p]:inline" data-streamdown="list-item">Experience with Linux and Windows development environments.
  • p]:inline" data-streamdown="list-item">Familiarity with Spring, JEE, SQL, Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, or cloud-native development.
  • p]:inline" data-streamdown="list-item">Experience with automated testing frameworks such as JUnit, Mockito, Selenium, or Cucumber.
