The Oregon Rural Practice-based Research Network (ORPRN) was established in 2002 at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland. ORPRN's mission is to improve health for all Oregonians through community-engaged research, education and health systems transformation. ORPRN facilitates a broad variety of clinical health care research, quality improvement projects, and practice transformation efforts in rural Oregon, and across the state. ORPRN is committed to building and sustaining a diverse, equitable, inclusive and anti-racist organization. We do so by evaluating how we develop and support our workforce, the partnerships we uphold and how we engage in our work throughout Oregon. The Project Manager is responsible for developing grant and contract proposals, building community partnerships, creating study protocols, scopes of work and timelines, and training curriculum. The position oversees project teams, ensuring adherence to protocols, the recruitment of project participants and the completion of required project activities. The role maintains project budgets and works with the Fiscal Administrator to reconcile any discrepancies.
Function/Duties of PositionInitiate relationships/partnerships with key stakeholder groups (payers, PIs, clinics, health systems, patient, service organizations) regionally and nationally to build and develop research and technical assistance collaborations. Work with community partners/key stakeholder groups to build and strengthen coalitions, plan for community research and evaluation needs, support training and connection to investigators, and prepare materials for dissemination.
Develop project protocols, timelines, instruments, training materials and SOPs for research and technical assistance projects. Work with PIs to plan and implement project methodology and design. Oversee data management, analysis, and team performance. Maintain IRB approvals and ensure studies are implemented per protocols. Monitor study activities and support program development.
Oversee project teams, providing direct and indirect supervision and mentorship to staff, ensuring their development, as well as adherence to project protocols and general ORPRN policies.
Maintain and monitor grant budgets/ expenses; help develop project budgets and contract bids. Work directly with fiscal administrator and budget analysts when discrepancies arise.
Prepare and submit grant and contract proposals; create scopes of work, prepare budgets, collect proposal materials, contribute to the writing of portions of proposals, submit proposals in a timely manner.
Prepare and submit manuscripts, using scientific writing, abstract submission, public presentations and other scientific activities.
General OHSU and ORPRN Responsibilities
a. Complete surveys and trainings required by OHSU and ORPRN
b. Participate in ORPRN workgroups and attend meetings and retreat
Bachelor's in related field plus 5 years' of relevant experience.
Expertise in patient or practice recruitment
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Ability to work independently in a multi-task environment.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint
Masters in public health or related field and 3 years' of relevant experience.
Experience managing research teams on projects emphasizing quality improvement in primary care settings
Experience managing research staff
Knowledge of primary care transformation to achieve the Triple Aim
Knowledge of social needs metrics and reporting requirements at the state and federal level
Experience providing technical assistance to clinics and other organizations on best practices for social needs screening in health care settings
Experience working with EHRs and Community Information Exchange platforms to collect social needs data
Understanding of human subjects protections
Monday - Friday days, some occasional evening and weekend hours may be necessary. Occasional travel around Oregon needed (post COVID-19 restrictions)
