Job description

The Humanities, Ethics, Arts, and Law (HEAL) program in the Department of Medical Education at the Keck School of Medicine seeks to fill the position of part-time Academic Program Assistant. This position will support the HEAL and Narrative Medicine programs (MS and Graduate Certificate) and co-curricular HEAL programming and activities, including Art and Medicine, Lunch and Learn, and Visions and Voices. This position will increase each program's capacity to widen its educational reach, develop new interdisciplinary programming, and deepen learner engagement with the human side of healing.
Duties include:
  • Coordinates the planning and execution for HEAL and Narrative Medicine activities
  • Provides administrative support to the HEAL and Narrative Medicine programs
  • Assists with preparing routine communication items: newsletters, flyers, invitations, and other correspondence
  • Administers department recruitment calendar. Monitors schedules, production and distribution arrangements and other details to ensure timely completion and quality control of recruitment activities and publications.
  • Writes and/or edits copy for department projects such as publications, advertisements, press releases, announcements, etc.
  • Assists in market research
  • Oversees content creation and publication on various HEAL and Narrative Medicine social media platforms

The hourly rate for this position is $25.32 When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree. Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education. Minimum Experience: 0-6 months Minimum Field of Expertise: Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills for interacting with both domestic and international stakeholders. Demonstrated attention to detail. Proven ability to plan, implement, and coordinate program logistics. Demonstrated database/data entry experience. Proven project management and problem solving skills, able to handle multiple timelines, changing priorities, and fluctuating workloads.
