FPCM’s goal is to preserve the University’s campus assets and, when appropriate, expand the University’s facilities portfolio to meet 21st-century demands.The Facilities Planning Unit of the Department of Real Estate and Planning is responsible for:Managing the development of master plans for each of the 26 CUNY campusesWorking with the colleges to develop capital project requests for funding from the State, City, and other sourcesPartnering with the Capital Budget Unit in the preparation of the University’s annual Capital Budget RequestPerforming space needs analyses, project programming, and feasibility studiesCoordinating with the Real Estate Transactions Unit on the identification, analysis, and development of space and project opportunities in non-CUNY-owned spaceManaging and updating the space inventory system and the facilities lifecycle assessment for all CUNY campuses.Developing and maintaining CUNY-wide space and planning guidelines.Providing database and report development support for all FPCM departmentsReporting to the Executive Director of Real Estate and Facilities Planning, the Planning Manager is responsible for:Managing consultants and campus involvement in the development of campus master plans and other studies, as assignedSupporting assigned campuses with the development and documentation of capital project requests for inclusion in CUNY’s annual Capital Budget Request to the State and the CityWorking closely with FPCM’s Department of Design, Construction, and Management to provide project planning, programming, and conceptual design oversight on capital projects at assigned campusesParticipating in the development and maintenance of CUNY-wide space and planning guidelinesOther duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONS AND CORE COMPETENCIESMinimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Planning, Architecture, or a related fieldTen years of professional experience in institutional planningDemonstrated experience managing projectsExcellent oral and written communication skillsExcellent computer skills, including Word, Excel, and PowerPointSelf-starter with the ability to work independently as well as part of a teamDemonstrated ability to organize and prioritize work to meet deadlinesAbility to see the “big picture” while paying attention to detailsStrong interpersonal skills with attention to customer service, diplomacy, and discretionPreferred Qualifications:Master’s degree in Planning, Architecture, or a related fieldHigher education planning experiencePublic-sector experienceProfessional license or certificationExperience with database and reporting softwareCore Competencies:Excellent written and verbal communicationAbility to work on multiple design and construction projects at one timeExcellent organizational skills and the ability to multitaskAbility to work under pressure and to meet multiple deadlinesAbility to prioritize competing workSelf and team motivatorAbility to be a team playerAbility to set project priorities and adjust implementation strategiesAbility to work effectively with staff, associates, and internal and external constituentsKnowledgeable of capital and operating budgetsAlert and observant, and looking for ways to improve processesOut-of-the-box thinker, creative, inventive, and adaptable to situationsPay Range:$100,000 to $120,000RFCUNY BenefitsEqual Employment Opportunity StatementThe Research Foundation of the City University of New York is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action/Americans with Disabilities Act/E-Verify Employer.
