Job Description

Position Details:

Location Lexington, MA

Job Title Senior Operations Associate

Duration 10+ Months

Must have skill-set [Job Description] Responsible for the onboarding, post-purchase through placing into service, of all newly acquired instrument systems in the Technical Development Department in Cambridge, MA. To be successful, the candidate must demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate with scientists, to manage tasks and work orders with service organizations and vendors, and to develop and maintain documentation. The candidate must be comfortable working without fully defined processes and should be flexible and resourceful to ensure tasks are completed. This candidate should be independent and a strong self-motivator; the candidate should feel comfortable taking initiative to ensure tasks are completed. 


Examples of responsibilities and tasks include: 

1. Arranging planning meetings between scientists, lab services, IT support, EHS, and Project Engineering 

2. Building and maintaining onboarding plans for multiple instrument systems 

3. Hosting vendors to complete installation activities 

4. Building, maintaining, and assigning preventive maintenance job plans using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) 

5. Holding parties accountable to responsibilities outlined in onboarding plans 

6. Learning about new technologies and understanding facilities and IT requirements for instruments 


Qualifications: 

1. Direct experience managing equipment or software life cycle activities 

2. Direct experience purchasing/installing instrumentation in a biotechnology/pharmaceutical company 

3. Demonstrated skillset around laboratory management, e.g. laboratory manager role 

4. Direct experience gathering system requirements for laboratory hardware and software 

5. Excellent communication skills, ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences 

6. Extreme attention to detail while still understanding the big picture

7. Superior organizational skills 

8. Ability to work under minimal direction; able to navigate company hierachy to find answers 


Preferred Qualifications: 

9. Experience working in a scientific capacity in a biotechnology/pharmaceutical laboratory 

10. Experience working in computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), e.g. Infor (EAM), Oracle 

11. Experience managing people or projects 

12. Experience writing operation and maintenance standard operating procedures 


Education Bachelor's in a scientific discipline with 5-8 years industry experience
