Pay Rate: $20.00 per hour
Schedule:Monday - Friday | 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM

The Composite Lab Technician performs composite materials processing & characterization of products. Follows directions provided by the materials/chemical engineers in the Technical/R&D department. Follows all company policies and procedures to ensure product integrity and quality control. This position requires proactiveness, precision and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out composite processing tasks (Layup, Kitting, Bagging, Curing, Machining).
  • Safely operate laboratory & composite processing equipment (Autoclave, Vacuum Oven, Furnace, Analytical, Mechanical & Machining Equipment).
  • Conduct lab-scale resin mixing & coating trials and maintain detailed records.
  • Carry out physical, mechanical, and analytical testing to predefined specifications and standards, maintaining clear and concise records of the testing, and ensuring associated equipment meets the needs of specifications and the business alike.
  • Work directly with supervision to maintain a clearly defined schedule, ensuring resource requirements are communicated to all affected departments. Provide feedback on processes and documentation.
  • Create and maintain close working relationships with all other lab employees, support the needs of the business as communicated by supervision, and ensure the communicated 'Lab Rules' are followed at all times.
  • Observe all company Health and Safety policies and utilize safe working practices.
  • Maintain housekeeping daily to meet company standards.
  • Comply with all requirements established by the Quality System.

These are the qualifications that matter.

  • High school diploma, General Education Degree or Equivalent, with 2 years of related experience.
  • Industrial lab or production shop experience.
  • Some analytical testing experience (DSC, DMA, Rheology, FTIR, HPLC, Particle size analyzer, or others)
  • Proficiency using MS Office software (Excel required).
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in chemistry/chemical engineering/materials science or 1-3 years of composites processing/testing experience preferred. Resin mixing and research lab experience a plus (especially in composites, polymers and adhesives)
