The Research Assistant will be involved in studying the epigenetic and transcriptional regulation in normal development and disease setting. The position will support the studies using cell-based system, animal models, molecular assays, and high-throughput sequencing analysis.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor Degree in Biology or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • BS or MS with experience in developmental or cancer biology, cell biology, immunology, in biochemistry, cell biology, immunology or related biomedical science.

  • Animal cancer models, primary tissue culture, molecular biology, protein biochemistry.

  • Epigenetics, immunology with technical expertise of FACS, RNA-seq, Co-IP, next-generation sequencing library preparation Experience in performing rodent immune bioassays following approved protocols, using intra-oral, intra-venous, intra-peritoneal and subcutaneous injections.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

  • Must be literate in the English language and be able to comprehend and follow effectively both written and verbal instructions.

  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills in English.

  • Ability to do independent research in areas related to developmental cancer and epigenetics.

Responsibilities

Experimental Procedures

  • Maintains rodent colonies.

Research Experiments

  • Assists in conducting experiments and technical procedures.

Laboratory Maintenance

  • Assists with maintaining laboratory equipment.

Collaborations & presentations

  • Participate in weekly lab meetings within the center and with other internal and external departments. Participate in joint projects involving postdoctoral fellows and students in the lab.

  • Provide assistance to graduate students and junior lab personnel.

  • Assist with research grant proposals and provide publishable reports for conference and journal presentations.

  • This will include library research into new approaches, the preparation of tables, graphs, photographs and figures, and assist in manuscripts and grant proposals, all with the highest ethical standards and levels of rigor and reproducibility.
