About the Role:

We're currently seeking an enthusiastic CO2 Refrigeration Engineering Specialist to join our engineering group. This role involves engineering, designing, optimizing, and developing our expanding CO2 product lines. While prior design knowledge is beneficial, a deep understanding of CO2 manufacturing processes and materials is essential. Responsibilities include assisting in testing and prototyping, ensuring compliance with regulations and industry standards, driving product innovation, and overseeing projects from concept to completion. Additionally, the successful candidate will refine and optimize designs, create custom designs to meet specific customer specifications and work closely with industrial engineering, production, and lab technicians to ensure efficiency and resolve any product development and production challenges.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Design, Engineer and Develop CO2 products: Assist in the design and development of CO2 systems, requiring a thorough understanding of CO2 refrigerant operations and knowledge of its manufacturing processes and materials.
  • Compliance: Ensure performance and adherence to industry standards (UL, CSA, ASHRAE) and assist in producing comprehensive engineering documentation, including specifications, test results, and operational guides.
  • Innovate: Leverage expertise in CO2 systems to solve and optimize complex engineering challenges and drive product innovation. Oversee prototyping and testing processes, analyzing data to refine and optimize designs.
  • Bill of Materials (BOM): Overlook and manage engineering BOMs for designated product lines, ensuring accuracy and quality, and timely release to production/manufacturing departments.
  • Production Problem-Solving: Work with Manufacturing Engineering and Production Departments to optimize material usage and assembly processes, and to resolve any production issues.
  • R&D Projects: Engage in various research and development initiatives, overseeing projects from initial concept through to successful completion.
  • Lab Work: Participate in lab tests, lab equipment selection or design, and equipment setup.
  • Perform Other Duties as Assigned.


Preferred Qualifications/ Skills:

  • Mechanical Engineering Diploma/ Degree or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in commercial/industrial refrigeration or related fields.
  • In-depth knowledge of CO2 system manufacturing processes and materials, with over 5 years of specific expertise in CO2 systems.
  • Knowledge and experience in the use of 2-D and 3-D CAD software
  • CO2 application and/or design experience is considered an asset
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Products and proficiency in computer software and programs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
