Overview
The Research Technician will be under the direct supervision of Dr. Lorico to generate data on cytomegalovirus and EGF receptor in cancer.
Located in Henderson, Nevada, approximately twenty-five minutes from the iconic Las Vegas strip, Touro University Nevada is a non-profit medical, health sciences, and education graduate university focused on positively impacting our community in healthcare and education. Responsibilities
BROAD RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist Dr. Lorico's team in the technical aspects of the performance of research projects.
  • Maintain, monitor, and oversee any special research equipment associated with these projects, help in finding and ordering reagents and supplies.
  • Maintain written documentation of the progress of the tasks assigned
  • Maintain supplies necessary for performance of all projects involved.

SPECIFIC TASK RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Maintain Research Laboratory equipment and supplies for the projects assigned.
  • Be prepared to operate each piece of equipment efficiently and accurately to perform assays and tests as required
  • Maintain a schedule of work that efficiently manages the work performed for the assigned faculty.
  • Develop clear and succinct application standard operating procedures for the techniques involved in the research assigned.
  • Order reagents and necessary equipment when needed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist in the supervision of students involved in the associated research.

Qualifications
Education:
  • College graduate with science background

Experience:
  • Several years of experience in working in a research lab environment
  • Awareness of the biosafety regulations related to research lab operations
  • Administrative experience in record keeping
  • Readiness to function as a team player
  • Readiness to learn diverse techniques and accept responsibility for their accurate performance.

Skills & Abilities:
  • Molecular Biology techniques, including cloning and DNA/RNA/Protein purification
  • Electrophoresis- SDS-PAGE, Multiplex Western Blot
  • Flow Cytometry
  • RT-PCR
  • Primary cell culture & cell culture techniques such as transfection and cell line maintenance.
  • ELISA or other colormetric plate-based assays
  • Microscopy and Sectioning (cryosection, paraffin, plastic), imunohistochemical analysis, fluorescence microscopy.
  • Animal Use (rodents), familiarity with basic animal surgical techniques, tissue dissection
  • Microbiology experience with bacteria and/or virus
