Human Neuroscience at the University of Utah

The Department of Psychology at the University of Utah invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Human Neuroscience. We seek an outstanding scientist with a strong, theory-driven research program that advances our understanding of the human brain through innovative neuroscience research. We welcome applications from researchers across all areas of human neuroscience whose work addresses fundamental questions about brain function, cognition, development, learning, health, or disease. We are particularly interested in candidates who combine important theoretical questions with innovative computational, quantitative, or methodological approaches. Applicants employing computational modeling, advanced statistical and quantitative methods, multimodal neuroimaging, machine learning, artificial intelligence, or related approaches are encouraged to apply, particularly where these methods provide new insights into human brain function and behavior.
The Department seeks to expand its research strengths at the intersection of human neuroscience, developmental science, and computational approaches. We therefore welcome applicants whose research addresses questions related to brain development across the lifespan, learning, adaptation, brain health, resilience, translational neuroscience, or related areas. We are especially excited by scholars whose work integrates innovative computational or quantitative methods with important questions in human neuroscience and who will help strengthen connections among the department's existing expertise in human cognitive neuroscience, developmental science, and quantitative methods.
The successful candidate will be expected to develop and maintain an active, externally funded research program and contribute to graduate and undergraduate teaching. Candidates with an outstanding record of research accomplishment and evidence of, or strong potential for, securing external funding are highly valued. The successful candidate will also contribute to the computational track of the University's new undergraduate Neuroscience major by teaching courses such as computational neuroscience, computational modeling, machine learning, artificial intelligence in psychology, or related quantitative methods.
The Department of Psychology provides an exceptionally collaborative environment for interdisciplinary research. Candidates are strongly encouraged to collaborate with colleagues in the department's four graduate programs (Cognition and Neural Sciences, Developmental, Clinical, and Social) and cross-area emphases (Quantitative and Health).
