Position Summary

Together, our Research & Product Development team is driven by a shared passion for pets and people. As a Senior Nutritionist, you'll lead the research studies to support applied nutrition research projects for Nestle Purina Petcare R&D. Come prepared to use your deep technical understanding and scientific knowledge along with strong communication and presentation skills to develop new technologies and provide expertise and insights to companion animal nutrition.

  • Initiate and lead research projects aligned to Nestle Purina's strategic areas related to pet health through nutrition
  • Translate research findings into product claims, technical communications, and commercialization opportunities
  • Function as a project team leader including providing project leadership and completing required documentation in a timely manner
  • Formulate research hypotheses, design experimental plans, and execute scientific studies
  • Conduct all activities in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), and all required Company Policies & Procedures
  • Leverage veterinary and consumer insights to drive innovation that promotes health and wellness of dogs and cats
  • Stay current in nutrition literature and intellectual property and propose new research approaches, methodologies, and technologies
  • Publish research in peer-reviewed journals, present at key industry conferences, and participate in Nestle Purina-sponsored symposia to introduce innovations
  • Maintain collaborations with academic institutions, veterinary specialists, and external scientific experts

Requirements

  • PhD in nutrition or related field

Other

  • Experience designing, managing, and publishing clinical research in animal nutrition is preferred
  • Diet formulation experience is preferred
  • Technical/functional knowledge in the area of metabolism or gastrointestinal physiology is preferred
  • Willingness to travel up to 10%

The approximate pay range for this position is $82,000 to $116,000. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including, but not limited to knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as geographic location.

Nestle offers performance-based incentives and a competitive total rewards package, which includes a 401k with company match, healthcare coverage, and a broad range of other benefits. Incentives and/or benefit packages may vary depending on the position.
