  • Spend substantial time appearing in court and handling hearings rather than being limited to research, document review, or hourly work
  • Build practical litigation skills, courtroom confidence, and knowledge of how to independently practice law
  • Join an established law firm with a strong creditors' rights, landlord-tenant, foreclosure, and real estate litigation practice
  • Clear opportunity for professional growth for attorneys who perform well and want to take on greater responsibility
  • Gain more hands-on legal experience in a few years than many junior attorneys receive in larger law firm environments

Location: South Carolina. This position will involve regular travel throughout South Carolina to attend court hearings on behalf of the firm.

Note: To be considered, you must be licensed to practice law in South Carolina or eligible to become licensed promptly. This is an entry-level opportunity, and prior attorney experience is not required. Candidates must be comfortable with frequent driving and courtroom appearances.

Our attorneys receive meaningful responsibility and hands-on experience while working alongside an experienced legal team. Confidential Employer.

Job Description

  • Appear in courts throughout South Carolina to handle hearings on behalf of the firm and its clients
  • Represent clients in landlord-tenant, foreclosure, creditors' rights, collections, and related civil matters
  • Prepare for hearings by reviewing files, pleadings, supporting documents, and applicable legal issues
  • Present arguments, communicate with opposing counsel, and advocate for clients in court
  • Draft and review pleadings, motions, notices, correspondence, and other legal documents
  • Provide timely updates regarding hearing outcomes and recommended next steps
  • Communicate professionally with clients, courts, opposing counsel, and internal team members
  • Conduct legal research as needed and develop familiarity with South Carolina court procedures
  • Manage deadlines and ensure assigned matters are handled efficiently and accurately
  • Take on increasing responsibility as experience and capabilities develop

Qualifications

  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Active South Carolina Bar license or ability to obtain South Carolina licensure promptly
  • Entry-level attorneys and recent law school graduates are encouraged to apply
  • 0-2 years of attorney experience preferred
  • Comfortable appearing in court and developing oral advocacy skills
  • Willing and able to travel regularly throughout South Carolina for hearings
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and professionally while traveling
  • Experience with landlord-tenant, creditors' rights, foreclosure, collections, or civil litigation is a plus, but not required

Why You'll Love Working Here

  • Significant courtroom exposure from the beginning of your career
  • Opportunity to learn how to actually manage cases and practice law
  • Hands-on training through real hearings and client matters
  • Broad exposure to creditors' rights, real estate, and civil litigation
