The Robert Larner MD College of Medicine at the University of Vermont is a leader in patient care, medical education and research. The Department of Medicine has initiated a search for a faculty position at the Assistant/Associate/Full Professor level (Tenure or Research Pathway) in the Division of Hematology Oncology and the Laboratory for Clinical Biochemistry Research ( LCBR ). We seek an outstanding epidemiologist with an established or promising research program in multi-omics epidemiology. The candidate will direct a research program and collaborate with colleagues for multi-omics epidemiology research on cardiovascular diseases, stroke, cognitive disorders and risk factors for these conditions. The LCBR , founded in 1984 by the late Russell Tracy, has 14 affiliated faculty and is the biorepository and central laboratory for many longstanding NIH -funded cohort studies and clinical trials. The successful candidate will participate in the NIH -funded Vermont Center for Cardiovascular and Brain Health Center of Biomedical Research Excellence, which is supporting multidisciplinary early career faculty to obtain independent funding. Depending on career stage they could serve as a VCCBH -funded early career investigator, mentor, or collaborator.
Qualified applicants will hold a PhD, ScD, or DrPH degree, and have expertise in multi-omics molecular epidemiology of cardiovascular-related diseases, cognitive disorders, stroke, or their risk factors, and must have demonstrated publications in one or more of these areas. It is highly desirable that the candidate has postdoctoral research experience, be collaborative, has expertise in multi omics epidemiology including the integration and analysis of high-dimensional biological data (e.g., genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics) within population-based studies to investigate disease etiology and risk factors, and has experience in translational research from bench to clinical or population settings It is desirable that they have an interest in the causes of health challenges, health inequities, and the non-medical factors that can create barriers to achieving excellent health. It is desirable that they can supervise and mentor qualified trainees and data analysts in the conduct of multi-omics analyses.
