JOB PURPOSE:
The purpose of this position is to perform highly skilled research or analyses involving complex scientific methods or a complex series of steps. Responsible for overseeing or conducting critical parts of research projects. May also perform the day-to-day coordination of a research group, taking charge of the execution of parts of a research project. This position typically reports to a Principal Investigator (PI).

NATURE AND SCOPE:
Support transportation engineering research at Howard University. The role engages with internal faculty and researchers, as well as external partners..
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Support the University Transportation Center's mission by helping manage research activities, education and outreach efforts, workforce development programming, and technology transfer initiatives.
  • Under the guidance of the Principal Investigator, support the planning and execution of federally funded research projects.
  • Participate in the collection, analysis, and interpretation of transportation engineering data, including field deployments and laboratory work.
  • Collaborate with faculty and research teams.
  • Contribute to the preparation of research proposals, technical reports, presentations, and peer-reviewed publications.
  • Help facilitate workshops, seminars, and public engagement activities related to transportation engineering research.
  • Assist with reporting requirements for sponsored research projects.
