Research Assistant Position Jobs in Madison, WI (NOW HIRING)

The Department of Medical Microbiology and Immunology is looking for a Research Specialist to join the Sauer Lab to support research focused on host pathogen interactions, antibiotic development, and/or tumor immunology. We are looking for an individual who possesses the following characteristics:

The Research Specialist will perform molecular, cell biology, and/or immunology experiments to support ongoing projects in the lab. The Research Specialist will participate in problem solving and carrying out portions of projects both in a team and independently.

This position requires work to be completed onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Participates in the development, interpretation, and implementation of research methodology and materials

Reviews, analyzes, and interprets data and/or documents results for presentations and/or reporting to internal and external audiences

Operates, cleans, and maintains organization of research equipment and research area. Tracks inventory levels and places replenishment orders

Conducts research experiments according to established research protocols with moderate impact to the project(s). Collects data and monitors test results

Provides operational guidance on day-to-day activities of unit or program staff and/or student workers

The starting salary for the position is $45,879 annually but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.

Required Qualifications:

• One year of lab experience (undergraduate independent laboratory research experience is acceptable)

• Strong background in molecular biology, cell biology and/or biochemistry

• Experience with Microsoft products including Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with microbiology and immunology

• Experiences with mouse handling and murine models of infection

• Experience analyzing data and using statistics

BS/BA Degree required; focus in microbiology, immunology, molecular biology, biochemistry, biology preferred
