Job description

HGA is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support operations in Baton Rouge, LA.
This Mechanical Engineer is responsible for developing and executing mechanical engineering designs, calculations, and specifications to support Oil & Gas, Refinery, and Chemical industry projects, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and constructability.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and review engineering calculations, design drawings, and equipment specifications.
Provide detailed mechanical design of complex facilities and guide Designers/Drafters in 3D modeling and drawing development.
Perform hydraulic calculations (pump sizing, line sizing), stress analysis, wall thickness calculations, and piping specifications.
Generate equipment data sheets, procurement packages, bid evaluations, and vendor drawing reviews.
Support construction and procurement through material take-offs, as-built drawing reviews, and technical input.
Conduct field surveys to optimize equipment layout, safety, and operational performance.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university or college.
Minimum of five years' experience in design engineering and equipment specifications.
Strong knowledge of engineering practices, design standards, piping codes, and international specifications.
Experience with PFDs, P&IDs, and piping design.
Must reside within commuting distance of Baton Rouge, LA.
Preferred Qualifications:
Professional Engineer (PE) license by examination preferred; willingness to pursue licensure required.
Experience in a consulting engineering firm environment.
Oil & Gas, Refinery, or Chemical industry project experience.
