Full job descriptionR&D Food Technologist:- Relocation Assistance Will Be Provided.Responsible for product formulation, product specification creation, prototype creation, formula mediation (initiating New Product Development protocol). This position requires strong project management skills and ability to coordinate multiple ongoing projects. This position supports customer & regulatory compliance through the product development realization to industrialization phases. The successful candidate must be able to advise and co-ordinate the necessary approvals (regulatory, customer and internal standards) during transition from concept to production. The position works closely with Quality and Purchasing Departments to maintain current ingredient, packaging and finished product specifications through vendor approval and finished products review. All tasks require proper documentation and record keeping consistent with the documentation control procedure outlined in the SQF system.This position is not limited to above description as other responsibilities may include tasks, projects, or plans given by Management.Seeking Good Laboratory Practices including Aseptic Sampling TechniquesMust Haves:Food Science or Chemistry degreeMinimum 1 2 years of R&D experience in emulsions/beveragesMust be flexible and able to run our lab-scale UHT (MicroThermics) equipment and manage shipment of samples to customersHighly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects, track status, and provide updates to the leadership teamResponsibilities:Manage multiple ongoing projectsDeveloping batch sheets for new productsDevelop nutritional panels for new product labelsRoutinely updating batch sheets for each production week as neededMaintaining ongoing new product label approvals for stateCreating finished product specificationsConduct necessary analytical or qualitative testing/study to develop new product specifications.Maintain New Product Development checklist for every new product on fileCo-ordinate shipping of customer samplesMaintain and stay current with vendor documentation (ingredients and packaging)Preparation for new product trials and co-packed business.Monitor trial ingredients for customers and product storage controlsWork closely with Sales Dept. and customers on development and commercialization of productsCoordinate and hold weekly R&D meetingsAssist QA/QC identifying lab testing equipment and calibrating for new products.Sensory Evaluation of products during and at end of Shelf-LifeAssist QA/QC identifying microbiological testing as appropriate for raw materials, work in process, and finished productsAnnual review of finished product specificationsSensory Evaluation of products during and at end of Shelf-LifeMaintain and implement components of SQF System (Food Safety and Food Quality) as requiredWork/Education/Experience Requirements:Master of Science in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry or other related field (preferred)Food Science degree or Chemistry degreePreferred 2-3 years?
