The Sponsored Research Coordinator works in close partnership with the Executive Director of Advancement, Strategic Partnerships to provide essential administrative and research development support to faculty to advance the College's research enterprise. This role supports faculty throughout the pre-award process by coordinating documentation, tracking deadlines, and ensuring materials are complete, accurate, and submission-ready. The coordinator demonstrates confidence navigating major federal and private grant portals and assists with uploading proposal components in preparation for the Executive Director's review.

The coordinator also supports proposal budgeting and compliance by assisting with the development and review of budget documents, maintaining boilerplate language about the institution important for research grant submissions, and managing a centralized repository of grant submission resources. Additional responsibilities include tracking funding opportunities, proposals, and approvals; coordinating internal routing processes; and collaborating with the Executive Director to monitor faculty projects with donor relevance potential. The coordinator will also help maintain a research-to-donor alignment inventory, including CMC's Faculty Research Index, and translate technical grant language into clear, accessible impact summaries for Advancement colleagues that support stewardship and future funding development.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Reporting to the Executive Director of Advancement, Strategic Partnerships, the Sponsored Research Coordinator works collaboratively to perform the following essential duties and responsibilities:

• Help with requests and reminders to grant seekers for supporting documentation for grant proposals.
• Assist with uploading documents for grant submissions using various grant portals, such as Grants.gov, ProposalCentral, Research.gov and eRA Commons, in preparation for the Executive Director's review and submission.
• Assist with development and review of budget documents, and in updating and storing important boilerplate institutional language for documents like "Facilities, Equipment, and Other Resources" that is commonly required for federal grant applications.
• Track funding opportunities, proposals, and deadlines.
• Coordinate proposal routing and approvals.
• Track faculty projects with donor relevance potential.
• Maintain a research-to-donor alignment inventory, including the College's Faculty Research Index. This includes helping to translate technical grant language into accessible impact summaries.
• Help maintain the repository of materials needed to support competitive grant submissions.
• Keep track of grant submissions and proposal status.
• Draft annual sponsored research reports.
• Assist with grant writing, support institutional grant efforts, develop language and materials that can be used by the College's Advancement team, and related stewardship tasks.
• Maintain repository of materials needed to support competitive grant submissions. This includes required documents for the National Science Foundation's Research at Primarily Undergraduate Institutions (RUI) program and the National Institutes of Health Academic Research Enhancement Awards (AREA), among others.

EDUCATION: A bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, or other field with experience in research development and/or writing or any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is required.

EXPERIENCE: Experience in research, research development, or compliance is preferred. An understanding of federal regulation and guidance, including a familiarity with the Uniform Guidance and its applicability to federally-funded research projects, is desired, or an ability to learn and develop this skillset.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES: Individual must possess knowledge, skills, and ability to be able to successfully perform the essential functions of the position, or be able to explain or demonstrate how the essential functions will be performed, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of knowledge skills and abilities.

• Experience with grant portals (such as Grants.gov, ProposalCentral, Research.gov and eRA Commons) is preferred.
• Must display organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.
• Ability to critically read and interpret grant solicitations and federal compliance requirements.
• Proficient oral and written communication skills, with experience in developing newsletters and reports for public distribution.
• Experience in reviewing and contributing to updating office policies and procedures for efficiency and compliance.
• Must be able to meet deadlines and multi-task.
• Knowledge of budget development and management.

OTHER:

REQUIRED HOURS: The regular hours for this full time position are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Holiday, weekend and evening work hours may be required. Travel may be required. Regular hours may vary due to needs of the College or division.

ANTICIPATED PAY RANGE: The anticipated pay range is $24.00 - $26.00 per hour.
