INBRE Biotechnologies Research Assistant - IWS

Division: CAS Department: Biology Experience: Entry-level

Job Code: FWSBIOTECRAST Supervisor/Reports To: Kevin Wang

Start Date: 6/22/2026

Assist with research in biotechnology including lab work, data analysis, and collaboration with other researchers. Ideal for students pursuing science or health-related careers with an interest in lab techniques and critical thinking.

Responsibilities and Career Competencies:

  1. Assist with laboratory research, experiments, and data collection under the guidance of a mentor - CT, C, P, T
  2. Learn and apply techniques such as PCR, gel electrophoresis, and cell culture - T, CSD
  3. Participate in research meetings and present findings to the team - C, CT, CSD
  4. Collaborate with other interns and research staff on interdisciplinary projects - TW, C, L
  5. Conduct literature reviews to support research findings and hypotheses - CT, CSD
  6. Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory notebooks and records - CSD, P
  7. Follow all safety guidelines and lab protocols to ensure a safe environment - P, CSD
  8. Use data analysis tools to interpret results and contribute to research development - T, CT, CSD
  9. Engage in self-directed learning and apply constructive feedback - CSD, P
