Job description
The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is a leading institution focused on cancer care, research, education, and prevention. The Research Coordinator role supports research efforts focused on intervention studies that are not treatment trials, including qualitative research initiatives that contribute to advancements in patient-centered cancer research. The Gynecologic Oncology and Reproductive Medicine department at MD Anderson's Cancer center is internationally renowned for research driven patient care, specializing in the medical and surgical treatment of all types of gynecologic cancers including ovarian, vaginal, vulvar, endometrial and cervical cancers, as well as malignant ovarian germ-cell tumors, ovarian sex-cord stromal tumors, borderline tumors of the ovary, cervical intraepithelial neoplasia, human papillomavirus and gestational trophoblastic disease.
Within this department, the Research Coordinator works closely with principal investigators, research staff, and participants to support protocol conduct, data collection, and patient engagement activities. The Research Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring research quality, regulatory compliance, and accurate study data management across multiple minimal-risk studies. The ideal candidate is a team-oriented, flexible, and dependable research professional with experience supporting research studies and interacting with patients. Preferred qualifications include experience with REDCap, informed consent processes, patient-facing research activities, and bilingual communication skills in English and Spanish. Relevant research coordination or research data coordination experience is highly desirable.

This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, engage directly with research participants, develop expertise in research operations and data management, and build a meaningful career while benefiting from a hybrid work arrangement. Key Responsibilities Protocol Patient Management Manage multiple assigned minimal-risk research studies and support ongoing protocol activities Identify potential protocol candidates and perform eligibility screening activities Provide study-specific information to potential participants Collaborate with research team members and principal investigators regarding subject eligibility questions Participate in the informed consent process and register subjects using the institutional clinical trial management system according to policy Document study-specific information accurately within the patient medical record Conduct semi-structured interviews for protocol-related data collection Administer questionnaires to eligible participants in outpatient and inpatient settings Coordinate with research staff to identify and resolve study-related issues, including missing documentation, adverse event reporting, and protocol deviations Maintain detailed screening logs, patient tracking systems, and follow-up communications, including appointment coordination and telephone reminders Research Data Management Maintain knowledge of protocol-specific guidelines and general research data management practices Assist in developing and maintaining systems for protocol data collection Abstract and collect patient data from the electronic health record and other source documentation Obtain off-site treatment, surgery, and pathology records as required by study protocols Enter research data into electronic case report forms (CRFs) and local data systems according to protocol requirements and timelines Perform ongoing review of data to ensure completeness, accuracy, and consistency Resolve data omissions, discrepancies, and errors in a timely manner Communicate data revision requests to physicians and clinical research staff as appropriate Train research personnel on database utilization and data management processes Assist with data compilation for manuscript and grant submission activities Protocol Administration Ensure assigned studies are conducted in accordance with Good Clinical Practice guidelines, federal regulations, and institutional policies Review new protocols for data management requirements and operational needs Participate in and assist with Site Initiation Visits (SIVs), conference calls, and protocol meetings Support annual reviews, protocol updates, response data activities, and report generation Collaborate with principal investigators, study teams, and protocol administration staff on financial and regulatory tasks Order supplies necessary for study management activities as needed Communication & Collaboration Interact with interdisciplinary teams across departments to obtain and verify project-related information Communicate effectively through verbal, telephone, email, and written correspondence Maintain timely communication with institutional personnel and research stakeholders Support collaborative problem-solving and study coordination efforts across research teams Professional Development & Other Duties Attend departmental meetings, required training sessions, and other professional development activities Remain current on policies and procedures related to protocol management and research data management Perform additional duties as assigned EDUCATION Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent Preferred: Bachelor's Degree WORK EXPERIENCE Required: 4 years Related experience.
