Role Overview

PAI seeks a dynamic, fundraising professional who will be responsible for continuing to build and enhance our individual donor portfolio, processes and strategy. The Associate Director of Individual Giving works closely with the President and CEO, and The Development Team.

They will have primary responsibility for raising catalytic funds from individuals and family foundations at the major gift and above levels ($1000+), and executing a planned giving strategy. They will also lead the organization's growth of the low-dollar grassroots giving, setting the strategy and executing fundraising plans for sustaining and growing the pipeline to grow PAIโ€™s unrestricted revenue. The Associate Director will also support donor stewardship efforts of the President and CEO, as well as senior leadership, and members of the Board, when necessary.

The individual giving program has seen steady annual growth in recent years. This team member will be responsible for overseeing its continued maintenance and significantly enhancing and diversifying the portfolio of individual and major gifts through new program efforts, targeted stewardship and meaningfully curated donor content to achieve PAIโ€™s annual and long-term fundraising targets and revenue goals.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage a portfolio of major ($1000-$24,999) and principal-level ($25,000+) individual donors and prospects (75-100 total).
  • Develop and execute solicitation and cultivation strategies to grow and maintain all the pipeline of all individual donors.
  • Oversee a strategy and significantly grow PAIโ€™s low-dollar grassroots donor pipeline, working collaboratively with outside contractors on direction and content.
  • Identify and integrate new tools and technologies to support enhanced fundraising and new donor engagement strategies.
  • Actively develop and implement new engagement strategies to inspire donors and prospects to champion and invest in PAI.
  • Schedule and hold personal meetings, both on-site and off-site, with donors, and lead the preparation and background research in advance, as it relates to individual donors and prospects.
  • Build and execute a communications strategy that aligns with a donor audience in collaboration with The Communications team.
  • Oversee donor prospecting of individuals, including research, rating and screening sessions.
  • Ensure accurate and complete records of donor communications and interactions, and gifts received.
  • Monitor revenue and expenses related to Individual Giving on a quarterly basis and monitor reporting activities.
  • Contribute to the growth of our planned giving program, implementing new strategies and protocols to attract new bequests.
  • Other tasks as needed


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree 7 โ€“ 10 years of individual giving and major gifts fundraising experience.
  • Strong experience utilizing Salesforce or similar donor database (i.e. Raisers edge).
  • Previous experience working in social justice, gender equality, sexual and reproductive health and rights, human rights or related movement-focused organizations. A general understanding of the current sexual and reproductive health and rights landscape is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and proven writing skills, including experience in writing direct mail appeals and e-appeals.
  • Outgoing personality and ability to initiate and enjoy direct communication with donors and potential donors; customer-service orientation.
  • Ability to work well with all levels of internal management and staff, as well as independently.
  • Experience with budgeting, planning and project administration.
  • Ability to handle diverse, simultaneous tasks, meet deadlines, and attend to follow-through.
  • Ability to support key administrative tasks such donor acknowledgement letters, gift processing, etc.
  • Other tasks as required.


Compensation and Application:


Annual salary range: $105,000 - $114,000 depending on experience.


PAI offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes health, dental and vision care, direct contribution 403(b) retirement plan and a flexible spending account.


This position is based in Washington, D.C. at the PAI offices, and is open to U.S. citizens and other applicants who already possess U.S. work authorization.


This role follows a hybrid schedule of Tuesday โ€“ Thursday in-office, Monday and Friday remote work.
