Job description

Rockland Federal Credit Union (RFCU) is seeking a Financial Assistance Specialist II – Collateral. Reporting to the Financial Assistance Manager, this role supports the effective operation of the Financial Assistance department by managing advanced recovery activities, including repossessions and remarketing of vehicle collateral, in full compliance with regulatory requirements and Credit Union policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage delinquent vehicle-secured accounts through calls, emails, and skip tracing while maintaining accurate documentation
  • Conduct loan research and collaborate with internal teams to resolve accounts in line with service standards
  • Process member payments via debit card, ACH, and internal transfers with accuracy and compliance
  • Oversee all phases of the repossession process, including notices, recovery, redemption, and disposition
  • Ensure all required legal notifications are completed accurately and in compliance with regulations
  • Coordinate with vendors, set expectations, and obtain timely updates on recovery efforts
  • File and manage VSI and physical damage claims, including ancillary rebate submissions
  • Partner with leasing companies on repossession-related claims and documentation
  • Ensure proper handling of accounts impacted by bankruptcy or estate processes

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in first-party collections and collateral recovery
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle titling, lien documentation, and repossession processes
  • Working knowledge of FDCPA, bankruptcy, and state repossession regulations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Teams, Outlook)
  • Credit Union experience preferred

Work Schedule and Benefits

As a Financial Assistance Specialist II- Collateral, you will work a 40-hour full-time schedule Monday through Friday with a rotating Saturday every 6-8 weeks.
