Job description

POSITION SUMMARY: The Family Reporting Senior supports individuals and entities served by Tolleson by delivering accurate, timely, and useful financial reporting. This role is responsible for reviewing and maintaining QuickBooks files, producing financial statements and custom reports (including Excel-based reporting), and providing day-to-day oversight of client workflows. The Family Reporting Senior partners closely with Managers, Bill Pay Specialists, Bookkeeping Associates, and internal Client Advisory teams to ensure high-quality deliverables, clear segregation of duties, and consistent service.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Own and oversee end-to-end client accounting/reporting workflows, ensuring work moves through an appropriate review process
  • Maintain and review QuickBooks files for individuals and/or entities, including identifying issues, correcting classifications, and keeping books audit/tax-ready
  • Coordinate, develop and/or perform month-end and quarter-end close processes (as applicable), including review of reconciliations, accruals, and supporting schedules
  • Review bank and credit card reconciliations and follow up on outstanding items; ensure appropriate documentation and resolution
  • Prepare and deliver recurring financial statements in Tolleson branding (including balance sheet, income statement, cash flow, general ledger detail), and create customized reports as needed (e.g., budget vs. actual, expense tracking, cash flow analysis)
  • Develop and maintain Excel-based reporting models and tools to support client-specific needs and improve reporting consistency
  • Oversee and support bill pay and cash control processes in partnership with Bill Pay Specialists; reinforce segregation of duties and approval workflows
  • Understand the needs of outside CPAs by providing organized workpapers, schedules, and requested documentation for tax preparation and year-end adjustments
  • Communicate directly with clients and internal stakeholders regarding financial results, open items, and process improvements; provide clear, professional, and timely updates
  • Train, mentor, and provide day-to-day guidance to associates and bookkeepers; review work product and coach to improve accuracy, efficiency, and quality
  • Identify process gaps and recommend improvements to workflows, templates, and systems (QuickBooks, Bill.com, bank portals, etc.).
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management

MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field preferred; CPA a plus but not required
  • 3+ years of progressive accounting experience with strong knowledge of financial statement preparation and general ledger accounting
  • Experience working in a professional services firm, family office, or similar client-service environment
  • Demonstrated ability to produce and explain financial statements and build customized reporting
  • Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks (or similar accounting software) and experience with bank/credit card reconciliations
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, structured models); comfortable building repeatable templates
  • Experience with Bill.com (or comparable bill payment platform) and understanding of accounts payable controls
  • Ability to manage confidential information in a discreet and professional manner
  • Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and maintain quality in a fast-paced environment
