Job description

Role Overview:

Under the oversight and direction of Financial Reporting management and in support of the Financial Reporting Senior Analyst, responsible for preparing all quarterly and annual external financial statements/reports as required of the Company on the basis of Statement of Statutory Accounting Principles (SSAP).  

Work Arrangement:

  • Hybrid = Associate must be in the Newtown Square, PA office at least three (3) days per week, including core days of Tuesdays and Wednesdays
  • For roles that are 100% remote or hybrid, you must have access to a reliable high-speed internet connection to support daily job responsibilities. A minimum bandwidth of 50 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload is required. 
  • Those fully remote associates residing in states where service is required by contract, law, or regulation will be allowed to submit for reimbursement.

Responsibilities:

  • Preparing and validating quarterly Department of Insurance (DOI) financial reports/fillings and various other external financial filings.
  • Preparing SSAP related adjustments and maintaining associated dimension in Oracle.
  • Performing overall variance analysis on the above noted reports.
  • Preparing audited annual financial statements and related disclosures on a SSAP basis. 
  • Participating in the implementation of new SSAP guidance as it relates to the completeness and accuracy of the financial statements and related disclosures.
  • Maintaining Workiva Financial Reporting module and all associated reports, report links, certifications, validation rules, etc.
  • Identifying process inefficiencies, recommending efficient process alternatives, and facilitating implementation of such process improvements.
     

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
  • CPA preferred or in process.
  • Solid understanding of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and the application thereof.
  • Solid understanding of SSAPs and the application thereof.
  • Exposure to the preparation of financial statements.
  • Exposure to the preparation of annual audited financial statements, reports, and related disclosures.
  • Experience with Hyperion/Oracle or similar ERP system preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with Workiva or similar system preferred.
  • 1+  years’ experience.
