About the Role
The Reporting Analyst will partner with key stakeholders to build data structures and processes to produce meaningful and actionable organizational reporting. This person will need to be able to extract and manipulate data from many different sources to provide a standardized and cohesive view of data to institutional leadership. This position will monitor data sources to enforce best practices and business rules to promote data integrity for all reports. The Reporting Analyst will play a critical role in defining and enabling the organizational data strategy.
Location: Chicago (Loop) with ability to work remotely part of each week
Department: Shared Services - Information Services
Reports To: Vice President of Information Services
FLSA Status: Exempt
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Design and maintain data views needed for requested reports.
  • Assist power users with utilization of data views to produce their own ad-hoc reports.
  • Build and maintain advanced reports as requested by end-users.
  • Create and monitor extract/transform/load processes used in database population and application integrations.
  • Document all data structures, relationships, and attributes in organizational data dictionaries.
  • Identify and report data integrity issues across data sources to promote ongoing data quality.
  • Assist Information Services staff with making data visualizations available on other platforms such as the organization's intranet.
  • Utilize the department ticketing system to obtain position-related end-user support requests, and work with the users to resolve their issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Power BI.
  • Excellent structured query language skills.
  • Ability to create and maintain basic ETL scripts.
  • Working knowledge of MS SQL Server management studio environment.
  • Ability to create thorough documentation for maintenance and end-user training.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel and various delimited text file formats for data movement.
  • Demonstrates a collaborative spirit and values team goals above personal contributions.
  • Ability to be self-motivated for constant improvement/optimization of existing processes.
  • Demonstrates passion for showcasing advanced capabilities of existing tools.
  • Ability to perform the role with the utmost integrity including maintaining the privacy and protection of institutional data.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and comfortable communicating in-person as well as through video conferencing.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience using Power BI to design high impact visualizations on board-level reports.
  • Knowledge of SharePoint integrations with Power BI.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS SQL Server table/query optimization and complex ETL scripting.
  • Experience with accessing data from a variety of cloud hosted applications.
  • Knowledge of reporting tool utilization in an MS Azure environment.
  • Industry or role-related certifications.
  • Prior experience working in health care or academic settings.

Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Business, Management or other related fields, or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • 2 years of work experience performing similar duties.
