Automotive Service Manager

We are seeking a high-performing, numbers-driven Automotive Service Manager to lead our shop operations in Surprise, AZ. This is not a passive desk job; we are looking for a true leader who understands how to optimize shop workflow, coach service advisors, maximize technician efficiency, and drive profitability.

Responsibilities
  • Operational Leadership: Oversee daily shop operations, managing both the frontโ€‘ofโ€‘house service advisors and backโ€‘ofโ€‘house automotive technicians to ensure peak productivity.
  • Drive Gross Profit: Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs), manage shop margins, control labor matrices, and implement strategies to consistently increase gross profit.
  • Team Development: Recruit, hire, train, and mentor a high-performing team. Conduct regular performance reviews and foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Customer Retention & Resolution: Maintain our reputation for excellence by ensuring top-tier customer satisfaction and personally handling advanced customer service resolutions.
  • Workflow & Efficiency Optimization: Implement and enforce streamlined processes for digital vehicle inspections (DVIs), parts sourcing, and dispatching to minimize shop bottlenecks.
  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure the shop operates in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, maintaining a clean, safe, and professional work environment.
Requirements
  • Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of successful experience as an Automotive Service Manager or Shop Manager in a high-volume independent Auto Repair Shop.
  • Financial Acumen: Deep understanding of automotive shop financial metricsโ€”specifically labor rates, effective labor rate (ELR), productivity vs. efficiency, and gross profit margins on both parts and labor.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven track record of leading, motivating, and retaining service advisors and flatโ€‘rate technicians.
  • Processโ€‘Driven: Strong expertise in utilizing modern shop management software (e.g., Shopโ€‘Ware, RO Writer, Mitchell1) and digital vehicle inspection (DVI) tools to drive sales.
  • Traits: Highly competitive, analytical, resilient, and possesses a "leadโ€‘byโ€‘example" management style.
  • License: Valid driverโ€™s license with a clean driving record.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary Range: $90,000.00 โ€“ 10 bay shop capable of $3.2 Million per year the sky is the limit.
  • Pay Structure: Competitive base salary plus a powerful tiered commission/bonus structure based on shop Gross Profit. (Uncapped earning potentialโ€”the more the shop makes, the more you make).
  • Job Type: Full-time.
