Amentum is seeking a CNC Machine Repair Technician II to join our 2nd shift team in Lafayette, IN. In this role, you will apply your intermediate-level expertise to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair facility machine tool equipment in an industrial environment. Shift: 2nd Shift | Hours: 1:00 PM - 9:30 PM (hours may vary based on business needs)
Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and repairs on CNC machine tools and industrial electrical systems.
  • Identify and address safety risks and conduct independent equipment evaluations to prevent failures.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols, including lockout/tag-out procedures and proper PPE usage.
  • Read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics to resolve equipment issues effectively.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical, mechanical, process, and product-related issues.
  • Perform preventive maintenance as scheduled in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and document all work performed.
  • Provide clear feedback to customers on work orders while maintaining compliance with codes and industry standards.
  • Suggest improvements to maintenance methods and identify opportunities to enhance equipment performance.
  • Operate diagnostic tools, hand tools, computers, and test hardware to complete maintenance tasks.
  • Exhibit flexibility to manage daily priorities and adjust work schedules as needed.
  • Perform general maintenance tasks and other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Manager.

Minimum Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of experience maintaining buildings, facilities, or equipment in a commercial/industrial environment OR a combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Ability to work at heights up to 30 feet using scissor lifts or aerial lifts.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree in industrial electrical or a related field.
  • Experience working safely with 480V 3-phase circuits.
  • Expertise troubleshooting and repairing electric motors, motor controls, and electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with PC-based work order systems for managing maintenance tasks and reporting.

Additional Requirements:
  • Ability to obtain a security access badge at the client's location.
  • Availability to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and alternative shifts as needed.

Physical Requirements:
  • Regularly lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequently climb ladders, kneel, bend, squat, stretch, and walk throughout the facility during shifts.
  • Perform repetitive wrist movements and differentiate wire colors.
  • Interact professionally with clients, even in high-stress situations.
  • Note: Tasks require wearing steel-toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats, and other PPE.
