Position Overview:   

A Material Handler is responsible for loading, unloading, and stocking raw materials for production.  Works closely with the supply chain team and the production leaders, notifying the appropriate parties of damage, shortage and discrepancies in paperwork compared to materials received. Handling of raw materials may require manual lifting and/or using equipment for loading, unloading and moving materials and must be securely loaded on trucks.  All employees are tasked with maintaining a clean and safe work environment.   

Responsibilities:  

  • Operate forklift safely and always maintain company forklift operations expectations  

  • Unload shipments safely and move material to proper storage location  

  • Read and understand receiving paperwork and correctly identify materials listed  

  • Verify shipment quantities match material received  

  • Report shortages, damages, and mis-shipments to appropriate parties  

  • Transport raw material to correct manufacturing line  

  • Assist in monthly physical inventories and frequent cycle counts  

  • Ensure proper stock rotation  

  • Repack, re-box and/ or label product when needed   

  • Exercise the company's safety guidelines and follow all PPE protocols    

  • Maintain an organized, clean, and safe environment    

  • Complete forklift prechecks and operate a forklift when needed    

  • Work as a member of the supply chain team; support colleagues when help is needed or requested  

  • Work occasional overtime hours and weekends, adjusted schedules and/or responsibilities as needed

Education and/or Experience:  

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent education. Prior experience in material handling or operating a forklift is required.  

  

Computer Skills:  

Basic computer knowledge and navigation are required. Will be expected to develop proficiency in Avanti software (i.e. FeneVision, etc.) and be/become familiar with Apple iOS.  

  

Communication Skills:  

English language skills are required, verbal and written. Ability to read, interpret, understand, and explain documents such as manifest and product order paperwork, or product specifications. Ability to effectively present information to others, gather information from others, and respond appropriately to questions from customers, coworkers, and managers.  Must display excellent phone and email etiquette.  Must be able to present an appropriate attitude for the situation when interacting with customers or coworkers.    

  

Professional Skills:  

Must be a team player and exhibit a strong desire to learn and promote self-growth.  Must be pro-active, self-disciplined, self-motivated, and have demonstrated ability to follow projects through to completion.  Attention to detail is required.  Must be able to demonstrate organizational skills, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines. Must be able to develop trust, respect, and confidence in customers, coworkers, and managers. Must present a clean and neat physical appearance.    

  

Mathematical Skills:  

Ability to subtract two-digit numbers and multiply and divide by 10s and 100s.  Ability to perform calculations using units of money, time, measurement, etc. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, length, width, height, and depth.  Ability to apply basic concepts of algebra, geometry, and general business math.  

  

Physical Demands:  

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, type or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to sit, stoop, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

The work environment with this job primarily includes the warehouse environment. The noise level of this job varies.
