Join Our Team as a Renewable Energy Lawyer at Axiom

We are currently seeking Renewable Energy Lawyers to work with our global energy clients. Ideal candidates will have a strong background in renewable energy law, with expertise in advising clients on project development, financing, regulatory compliance, and transactions in the renewable energy sector. This is an existing vacancy.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide legal counsel and support to clients on the development, financing, and implementation of renewable energy projects, including negotiating project agreements, permits, and leases.

  • Advise clients on regulatory compliance matters related to renewable energy projects, including environmental regulations, zoning laws, and permitting requirements.

  • Assist clients in structuring and negotiating renewable energy transactions, such as power purchase agreements (PPAs), project acquisitions, and financing arrangements.

  • Structure, draft, review and effectively negotiate tax equity and debt financing documentation, including portfolio financing structures with multiple projects being funded under the same construction debt, back-leverage debt, and tax equity partnership documents.
Qualifications:
  • Active bar license in the state in which you reside.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience practicing law, with a focus on renewable energy, preferably in a law firm or corporate legal department setting.

  • Strong knowledge of U.S. federal and state laws and regulations governing the renewable energy industry, including the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), Public Utility Regulatory Policies Act (PURPA), Investment Tax Credit (ITC), and Production Tax Credit (PTC).

  • Utilities experience preferred.
  • Experience working start to finish with renewable energy projects, securing the rights to the land for wind farms/solar farms, and negotiating financing deals start to finish for EPC development.
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience advising clients on a variety of renewable energy technologies and projects, including utility-scale and distributed generation projects, including solar and battery storage.

  • Familiarity with financing structures and mechanisms for renewable energy projects, such as tax equity financing, project finance, and structured finance.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and project management skills, with the ability to effectively advise clients and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams.

Compensation:

The estimated total compensation for full-time Axiom attorney roles is $104,500-325,000 per year and for non-attorney roles is $71,250-309,750 per year. Compensation decisions are based on various factors, including, but not limited to, experience, skills, certifications, location, and business needs.  Employees may be eligible for additional benefits, including health, dental, and vision insurance; paid holidays and PTO; flexible work arrangements; and professional development opportunities and tools.
