Job description

About the Role

Philo is looking for a strategic, creative, and hands-on Head of Social Media to lead our organic social presence across entertainment, culture, and community.

This person will own social strategy, editorial planning, and platform-native content creation - bringing strong instincts in writing, filming, editing, design, and trend-driven execution. They'll partner closely across Marketing, Design, Programming, Customer Support, Legal, and external creators to keep Philo's social presence timely, consistent, and unmistakably Philo.

Responsibilities

  • Own Philo's organic social strategy, editorial calendar, and channel approach across key platforms, with a strong focus on short-form video, Reels, Tiktok, YouTube Shorts, and emerging formats.
  • Create, film, edit, design, publish, and optimize platform-native social content, including video, graphics, memes, captions, carousels, and trend-driven posts.
  • Bring a strong creator/creative ethos to the role, understanding what makes content feel native, shareable, entertaining, and worth watching.
  • Develop social campaigns around programming priorities, cultural moments, giveaways, partner needs, and audience-specific initiatives.
  • Maintain Philo's social voice and ensure content feels confident, approachable, audience-first, culturally aware, and unmistakably Philo.
  • Collaborate with Design, Brand, Growth, Product Marketing, Customer Support, Legal, agencies, and external creators to bring social ideas to life.
  • Support influencer and creator partnerships through creator sourcing, briefs, content review, and performance learnings.
  • Oversee community management, moderation, and escalation standards across social channels, Reddit, and app store reviews.
  • Use performance data, community feedback, and audience insights to inform content, creative, and marketing recommendations.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in social media, content creation, entertainment marketing, brand marketing, or a related field.
  • Proven experience leading organic social strategy, editorial planning, content development, publishing, and reporting for a consumer-facing brand.
  • Strong hands-on skills in filming, editing, short-form video, social design, meme creation, writing, and platform-native storytelling.
  • Deep fluency in short-form video, especially TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts.
  • Has a strong curiosity about trends and developments in the social media landscape including new and emerging platforms.
  • A strong portfolio of social work that shows creative range, platform fluency, and content that has meaningfully driven engagement, reach, conversation, or cultural relevance.
  • Experience with tools like CapCut, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Figma, Sprout Social, or similar platforms.
  • Strong creative instincts around TV, entertainment, pop culture, memes, fandom, creator culture, internet behavior, and what makes content shareable.
  • Excellent writing, editorial judgment, project management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Experience with programming launches, partnerships, giveaways, cultural moments, community moderation, and creator/influencer collaborations.
  • Ability to balance strategy and execution - leading the vision while also making the work when needed.

What Success Looks Like

  • Philo's social presence feels consistent, timely, culturally relevant, and unmistakably Philo.
  • Social content becomes more platform-native, creative, shareable, and balanced across video, design, copy, memes, and trends.
  • Short-form videos become stronger, more intentional parts of Philo's organic social strategy.
  • Organic social provides useful audience insights that inform broader marketing and creative strategy.
  • Cross-functional teams have a clear social partner who can translate priorities into strong content quickly.
