Job description

About

We're a venture studio that embeds operationally with journalist-creators and credentialed experts - helping them build the businesses and production engines behind their work. We lead with strategy, embed in the day-to-day, and co-build alongside our clients.

This role supports Daniel Steiner, an independent documentary journalist and filmmaker known for visually-driven storytelling that makes complex geography, history, and urban systems understandable and genuinely compelling.

About the Role

Daniel is producing a slate of videos, including international field shoots. We're looking for a contract Associate Producer to coordinate and own the production end-to-end. This is the person who holds the full plan and makes sure each video gets researched, shot, edited, and delivered on schedule.

This role is the connective tissue across pre-production, production, and post. It's contracted on a per-video basis, and we expect the engagement to run through at least September 2026.

What you'll do
  • Coordinate production end-to-end: in-country contacts and partner relationships, travel and shoot logistics for international field shoots, and delivery schedules
  • Hold the full plan: know the slate, the shoot structure, and the on-the-ground points of contact cold, and keep everyone aligned to it
  • Research: gather sources, and build research dossiers and outlines when relevant
  • Pre-production coordination: travel booking, scheduling, locations and access
  • Field coordination: keep shoots organized and on-track on the ground (occasional unusual hours may be required due to international filming)
  • Post-production coordination: manage footage hand-off, track cuts, and keep each video on its delivery date
  • Partner deliverable coordination: manage any partner timelines, approvals, and assets
  • Asset and delivery management: footage, files, and own the delivery schedule
Who you are
  • 3+ years in documentary, video, or digital production - you can produce and coordinate end-to-end
  • A strong logistics and coordination operator)
  • Editorially curious about geography, history, urban systems, and journalism
  • Reliable, and self-directed: you're responsible without needing your hand held.
  • Comfortable with the tools of remote production coordination (Notion, Frame, or similar)

Bonus points for: scriptwriting ability for documentary YouTube, field/location production experience and real familiarity with the YouTube documentary format.

Logistics
  • Type: Contract, per-video basis. This engagement expected to run through at least September 2026
  • Location: Remote
  • Compensation: Per-video rate
  • Start: As soon as possible
