Remote Working information

What is remote working?

A remote working job is a position that allows employees to perform their duties from a location outside of a traditional office, typically from home or another remote setting. This setup relies on digital communication tools such as email, video conferencing, and collaboration software to stay connected with teams. Remote work offers flexibility in terms of location and often working hours, depending on the employer's policies. It can be full-time, part-time, or freelance, depending on the job and industry. Many companies have adopted remote work to improve work-life balance and access global talent.

What can I expect from the team culture and communication style in fully remote roles?

In fully remote roles, team communication often relies on messaging apps, video calls, and project management platforms to keep everyone connected and aligned. You can expect a culture that values proactive updates, regular check-ins, and clear documentation to ensure transparency and accountability. Many remote teams foster a collaborative environment through virtual meetings, online social events, and shared digital spaces for informal chats. While flexibility is a key benefit, strong communication skills and self-motivation are crucial to staying engaged and contributing to team goals.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in remote working, and why are they important?

To thrive in a remote working role, strong self-discipline, time management, and proficiency in digital collaboration platforms are essential, typically supported by experience in a relevant field. Familiarity with tools such as Zoom, Slack, project management software (like Asana or Trello), and secure VPNs is often required. Excellent written communication, adaptability, and the ability to work independently are standout soft skills in this environment. These qualities enable productivity and effective team contribution regardless of location, which is critical to remote work success.

We are committed to creating an inclusive and supportive environment that prioritizes mental health and well-being among young students, helping them thrive not just academically, but personally.

Work Environment

This position is fully remote, enabling flexible work hours while maintaining a school-based focus. As an LCSW within our organization, you will collaborate closely with educators, school administrators, and parents to address the unique challenges that students face, especially during these unprecedented times. You will utilize telehealth platforms to conduct sessions, ensuring accessibility for all students and their families in the Oyster Bay, New York area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments to identify the emotional, social, and environmental factors affecting studentsโ€™ mental health and academic performance.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to the unique needs and circumstances of each student and their family, utilizing evidence-based therapeutic interventions.
  • Offer ongoing support and counseling to students coping with various issues, including anxiety, depression, trauma, and familial challenges, ensuring a safe space for them to express themselves.
  • Collaborate with teachers and school administrators to provide insights and strategies for supporting students in the classroom setting, thereby enhancing their educational experience.
  • Facilitate discharge planning post-treatment for students needing additional support, coordinating with community resources and support networks to ensure smooth transitions.
  • Provide education and training to school staff on mental health issues, fostering a trauma-informed school culture.
  • Participate in case management meetings with multidisciplinary teams to discuss student progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
  • Utilize crisis intervention techniques when needed and provide timely and effective support to students experiencing mental health emergencies.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of patient assessments, treatment plans, and progress in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Engage in professional development and stay updated on the latest practices in psychosocial support, particularly within the context of school-based mental health services.
Patient Population / Client Focus

This position primarily serves school-aged children and adolescents who are facing a variety of emotional and psychological issues, such as stress, academic pressures, bullying, family dynamics, and mental health conditions like anxiety or depression. You will work closely with parents and guardians to ensure a comprehensive support system around each student and enhance their overall coping strategies.

Qualifications
  • Masterโ€™s degree in Social Work and a valid LCSW license in the state of New York.
  • Strong foundational knowledge in child and adolescent psychology, social work practices, and relevant legal and ethical practices.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage effectively with students, families, and educational staff.
  • Proficiency in telehealth technologies and willingness to engage with remote counseling tools.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience in a school setting or working with children and adolescents is highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with evidence-based practices in cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, or other therapeutic modalities relevant to youth.
  • Previous experience in crisis intervention or emergency mental health support is an asset.
Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of USD 70,000 to 100,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package that includes health insurance, paid time off, and professional development opportunities, you will benefit from a supportive remote working environment that values work-life balance.
