As a Technical Editor or Writer at ANSER, you'll support our teams by developing, reviewing, and refining technical documentation that communicates complex information clearly and accurately to a range of audiences, including government clients, internal stakeholders, and external partners.

Most roles are in the greater Northern Virginia and Washington, D.C. area and require on-site work five days a week. Some roles may allow for hybrid or remote work however that is on a case-by-case situation and is not applicable to most opportunities.

General Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Write, edit, and format a wide range of technical documents including reports, manuals, briefings, white papers, proposals, and policy documents.
  • Review content for clarity, grammar, consistency, and adherence to style guides and formatting standards.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs), analysts, and project teams to translate complex technical concepts into user-friendly content.
  • Ensure all deliverables are accurate, professional, and aligned with organizational and client standards.
  • Manage multiple editing and writing projects under tight deadlines while maintaining quality and accuracy.
  • Maintain version control and documentation workflows using collaborative editing and document management tools.
  • Apply plain language principles and follow federal writing guidelines when appropriate.

General Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing, or a related field. Additional years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 3+ years of experience writing or editing technical content, preferably in support of government, defense, or intelligence programs.
  • Strong command of grammar, usage, and editing conventions, with an eye for detail.
  • Experience working with style guides (e.g., Chicago Manual of Style, APA, or in-house templates).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant writing/editing tools (e.g., Adobe Acrobat, SharePoint, LaTeX, or XML-based editors).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Active security clearance or the ability to obtain one may be required depending on the position.
