What is a Remote WMS Analyst?

A Remote WMS (Warehouse Management System) Analyst is a professional who specializes in managing, analyzing, and optimizing warehouse management software systems while working off-site. Their responsibilities often include configuring WMS software, troubleshooting system issues, supporting warehouse operations, and improving workflow efficiency. By working remotely, they leverage communication tools and remote access to ensure warehouses run smoothly and data is accurately managed. This role is crucial for companies looking to streamline logistics and inventory management without requiring on-site IT presence.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote WMS Analyst?

To thrive as a Remote WMS Analyst, you need a solid understanding of warehouse management systems, supply chain processes, and data analysis, often backed by a degree in information systems or logistics. Familiarity with leading WMS platforms (such as Manhattan Associates or SAP EWM), SQL, and sometimes relevant certifications like APICS or Six Sigma are typically required. Strong problem-solving, communication, and the ability to work independently are crucial soft skills for remote collaboration and troubleshooting. These competencies ensure efficient system performance, accurate inventory management, and effective support of warehouse operations from a remote setting.

How does a Remote WMS Analyst effectively collaborate with onsite warehouse teams?

Remote WMS Analysts frequently partner with onsite warehouse staff through video meetings, instant messaging, and remote access tools to resolve system issues and optimize workflows. Clear communication and documentation are essential, as analysts must translate technical solutions for non-technical users and ensure alignment across shifts and locations. Building strong working relationships and staying proactive with regular check-ins help overcome the challenges of not being physically present, ensuring smooth warehouse operations and timely project deliveries.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Tecsys Elite WMS / Distribution ERP L3 Application Support Specialist to provide advanced production support for warehouse, distribution, and supply chain operations.

You will serve as the Level 2/Level 3 escalation point for Tecsys-related issues, working closely with operations, IT, integration, infrastructure, automation, external vendors, and Tecsys support teams.

This is a hands-on role focused on complex troubleshooting, integrations, application stability, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement.

What You'll Do

  • Provide L2/L3 production support for Tecsys Elite WMS and Elite Distribution ERP.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues involving inventory, orders, transactions, interfaces, printing, jobs, performance, configuration, and user access.
  • Investigate application logs, SQL/data, interface messages, file transfers, job status, and transaction workflows.
  • Support integrations with ERP, EDI, carriers, automation/WCS, RF devices, reporting, label-printing, customer, and supplier systems.
  • Troubleshoot APIs/web services, EDI, SFTP/FTP, batch jobs, middleware, and file- or message-based interfaces.
  • Coordinate transaction retries, reprocessing, reconciliation, and recovery activities.
  • Lead high-priority incident triage, impact assessment, communication, escalation, and resolution.
  • Perform root-cause analysis and identify opportunities to prevent recurring incidents.
  • Manage escalations with Tecsys and third-party vendors, providing detailed troubleshooting information and supporting evidence.
  • Support approved configuration changes, workflow updates, master-data corrections, security changes, releases, cutovers, and hypercare.
  • Maintain troubleshooting guides, runbooks, escalation procedures, and knowledge-transfer materials.
  • Mentor L1/L2 support teams and business super users on common issues and support procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience supporting WMS, ERP, distribution, or supply chain applications.
  • 4+ years of hands-on Tecsys Elite experience, or strong enterprise WMS/Distribution ERP experience with the ability to quickly learn Tecsys.
  • Strong understanding of warehouse and distribution processes, including:
    • Inbound and receiving
    • Order fulfillment
    • Inventory management and cycle counting
    • Procurement
    • Returns
    • Shipping and distribution
    • Enterprise system handoffs
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across application configuration, transactions, master data, integrations, reporting, security, devices, and operational workflows.
  • Experience supporting integrations using APIs/web services, EDI, SFTP/FTP, batch jobs, and file-based interfaces.
  • Ability to use SQL for troubleshooting, data validation, reconciliation, and root-cause analysis.
  • Experience with incident, problem, change, release, and vendor management processes.
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow, Jira, or similar ITSM platforms.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with business users, IT teams, technical teams, and vendors.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct production support experience with Tecsys Elite WMS and Elite Distribution ERP.
  • Experience with Tecsys Itopia and/or additional Tecsys modules such as:
    • Transportation Management (TMS)
    • Delivery Management
    • TecsysIQ / Analytics
    • Order Management
  • Experience with relational databases, Oracle, Linux/Unix, Windows, scripting, job scheduling, monitoring tools, or cloud/SaaS environments.
  • Experience supporting upgrades, releases, implementations, go-lives, cutovers, and hypercare.
  • Experience in large-scale warehouse, distribution, logistics, or supply chain environments.

What Success Looks Like

In this role, you'll help ensure stable, reliable warehouse and distribution operations by:
