POSITION SUMMARY:

The Lead Automation Engineer is responsible for supporting business unit(s) with the development and maintenance of automated solutions for various processes and systems using a standard set of tools and technologies.  This highly skilled individual to step into a transformative lead role to drive the company's Automation Transformation, setting strategic and breakthrough ideal state and future state, effectively partnering with business unit(s) to deliver efficient, holistic automation solutions with speed and scale that generate best value for the organization.

Work Schedule: Remote

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reports to the Manager/Director of Software Development and serves as technical lead to a team of Automation Engineers.
  • Responsible for understanding the needs of the business, providing solutions to improve efficiency, and supporting solutions implemented within the enterprise.
  • Serves as a liaison between business operations and automated solutions with an emphasis on workflow architecture.
  • Responsible for maintaining numerous workflows and detailed knowledge of their impact on all systems.
  • Mentors less experienced engineers.
  • Able to serve as a Technical Lead on multiple cross-functional IT and business projects.
  • Manages time, priorities, and customer expectations across multiple projects.
  • Takes technical direction from senior team members and participates in a knowledge-sharing environment.
  • Participates in agile team processes.
  • Research and specify the optimal solution for workflow-based process automation.
  • Design and develop the identified optimal workflow-based automated processes.
  • Test and certify the implemented optimal workflow-based automated processes.
  • Analyze business requirements specification, then translate into functional specifications.
  • Write and maintain technical specifications according to functional specifications.
  • Maintain source level control of all workflows.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve all defects and incidents in a timely manner.
  • Provide process support, which includes problem research, analysis, resolution, and on-call support.
  • Communicate effectively with business users, sponsors, and other product teams.
  • Ensures product conformance to sound engineering principles, customer requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Ensure all technology practices adhere to regulatory security standards.
  • Analyze current solutions and technologies used by back-office applications.
  • Foster cross-platform development, collaboration, and solutions.
  • Influences changes to standards when necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Reads and abides by the company’s code of conduct, ethics statements, employee handbook(s), policies and procedures and other corporate mandates, including participation in mandatory training programs.
  • Reports any real or suspected violation of the corporate compliance program, company policies and procedures, harassment, or other prohibited activities in accordance with the reporting policies of the company.
  • Obtains clarification of policy whenever necessary and may use the resources available through the Compliance, Human Resources or Legal Department

QUALIFICATIONS: 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential responsibility satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required.

  • Knowledge of network infrastructure, security, and authentication processes.
  • Working experience with all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Knowledge of technology stack preferred (MS Power Automate, MS Power Apps, MS SQL Server, Azure, Copilot Studio, Agent Development).
  • Knowledge of implementing and managing Privacy, Security Policies.
  • Able to communicate effectively with non-technical staff and with members of interdisciplinary teams.
  • Keeps current on emerging workflow automation technology and makes recommendations.
  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to conduct research into software-related issues and products.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience working both independently and, in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Takes initiative to make best use of time, benefiting departmental and company goals.

Education/Experience:

  • Associate degree from accredited College or University in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, Statistics, or similar technology bootcamp; 8 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 8+ years of IT experience in positions related to applications development, workflow automation, and business process reengineering.
