Job description

Position Purpose

Upholds the Credit Unionโ€™s mission of โ€œWe do the right thing one member, one employee, and one experience at a time to strengthen the communities we serveโ€ by providing objective, data-driven analysis of marketing strategies, campaigns, channels, and investments to improve decision-making and maximize business impact.

The Marketing Data Analyst is an important role within the Data Services department partnering closely with Marketing and other areas of the Credit Union. This role serves as the subject matter expert for marketing analytics and measurement, using member, transactional, campaign, digital, and other available data to determine what is working, what is not, and where opportunities exist.

This role goes beyond reporting marketing activity by evaluating the effectiveness and business impact of marketing efforts. The Marketing Data Analyst is expected to exercise independent analytical judgment, challenge assumptions when appropriate, and clearly communicate conclusions based on evidence โ€” including when findings differ from expectations or established perspectives.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Marketing Performance & Measurement: Own the measurement of marketing campaigns, channels, and investments, including KPIs, attribution, ROI, acquisition, conversion, and other business outcomes.
  • Insights & Recommendations: Analyze member, transactional, campaign, digital, and behavioral data to explain performance and identify opportunities, including connecting marketing engagement (e.g., opens, clicks, and views) with application, product, and transactional data to understand downstream behavior, conversion, and business impact.
  • Testing & Experimentation: Design and evaluate A/B tests, control groups, and other approaches to determine the incremental impact of marketing efforts.
  • Member & Audience Analytics: Use segmentation, cohort, funnel, acquisition, retention, and behavioral analysis to improve targeting and understand member response.
  • Analytical Partnership: Serve as Data Servicesโ€™ primary analytical partner to Marketing, translating business questions into analytical approaches while maintaining independent judgment and professionally challenging conclusions that are not supported by the data.
  • Communication & Storytelling: Present clear, actionable findings to Marketing and leadership, distinguishing between what the data demonstrates, suggests, and cannot establish.
  • Reporting & Visualization: Develop dashboards, scorecards, and recurring reporting that provide meaningful visibility into marketing performance and business impact.
  • Data Quality & Continuous Improvement: Partner with Data Services and Marketing to improve data quality, metric definitions, measurement methodologies, and overall marketing analytics capabilities.

Necessary Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Marketing, Business, Analytics, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • At least five years of experience in marketing analytics, marketing measurement, customer analytics, or a closely related role.
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing customer or member, transactional, campaign, and behavioral data to measure marketing effectiveness, explain performance, and develop actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Advanced experience writing and optimizing SQL queries, preferably in Snowflake and Oracle.
  • Experience with business intelligence and data visualization tools such as PowerBI.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple requests in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to translate complex analytical findings into clear insights and recommendations for a diverse credit union audience.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise independent analytical judgment, professionally challenge assumptions, and confidently communicate conclusions supported by data.
  • Experience in financial services or credit unions and an understanding of member, product, and transactional data is preferred.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

  • Office environment with moderate level of noise
  • Frequent use of telephone, copier, computer, fax machine and other office machines
  • Prolonged sitting or standing
  • Frequent mental and visual concentration
  • Minimal lifting of up to 25 pounds
