Job description

Job Title: Systems Engineer Location: Vienna, VA Type: Contract Work Model: Hybrid – Remote Hours: 40.0 Security Clearance: Not required

Responsibilities

  • Assist in maintaining IT and enterprise security applications and systems
  • Troubleshoot Linux and Windows servers and enterprise applications
  • Deploy, optimize, and support enterprise security applications across on-premises, SaaS, and IaaS environments
  • Remediate vulnerabilities on Linux and Windows systems, monitor and patch platforms, and manage system stability
  • Document engineering processes, procedures, and lessons learned
  • Update TLS certificates and respond to audit and hardening requests
  • Maintain and update stories and work in flight
  • Provide updates in daily operations briefings
  • Monitor daily ticket queues, handle incidents, and manage work ingestion
  • Perform quarterly access reviews and participate in on-call rotations
Requirements
  • 3+ years of experience in enterprise IT environments with a focus on change management
  • 3+ years of experience as a Systems Administrator or similar role
  • 3+ years of cybersecurity engineering experience, with understanding of enterprise security practices and PCI-DSS/NCUA compliance preferred
  • Experience with infrastructure management processes such as change, problem, and configuration management
  • Hands-on experience with Agile methodologies, particularly Kanban workflow
  • Experience working in large enterprise environments
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for Linux (Centos, Red Hat, Ubuntu, Cisco derivative OS) or Windows Server OS
  • Proficiency in patching and upgrading Linux and Windows OS and applications
  • Basic scripting skills in Ansible, Python, Bash, PowerShell, or Ruby for automation
  • Familiarity with SIEM technology and enterprise network principles including firewall, routing, switching, load balancing, and proxy troubleshooting
