Remote Wifi Engineer information

What is a remote WiFi engineer?

A Remote Wifi Engineer is a network specialist who designs, configures, monitors, and troubleshoots wireless networks for organizations, all while working from a remote location. They ensure optimal wifi performance, security, and coverage for users in offices, homes, or large facilities. Their responsibilities may include conducting virtual site surveys, resolving connectivity issues, and recommending upgrades or new solutions. Remote Wifi Engineers typically use specialized tools to manage and analyze wireless networks without being physically onsite.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote WiFi engineer?

To thrive as a Remote WiFi Engineer, you need a solid understanding of wireless networking fundamentals, RF engineering, and network troubleshooting, typically supported by a bachelor's degree in a related field and certifications like CWNA or CCNA Wireless. Familiarity with network management tools, WiFi analyzers, and remote diagnostic systems is essential. Strong problem-solving skills, clear communication, and self-motivation are standout soft skills for collaborating with clients and teams from a distance. These competencies ensure reliable wireless network performance and effective support for geographically dispersed users.

How does a remote WiFi engineer typically collaborate with on-site teams to troubleshoot connectivity issues?

As a Remote Wifi Engineer, you will often work closely with on-site IT staff and end-users via video calls, remote desktop tools, and detailed documentation to diagnose and resolve connectivity issues. Effective communication and clear instructions are key, as you might need to guide non-technical staff through troubleshooting steps or coordinate with local engineers for hands-on tasks. Building strong relationships and maintaining regular updates with the on-site team ensures smooth resolution of problems despite the physical distance.

  • Complete acceptance testing, document results, and help resolve readiness gaps before go-live.
  • Respond to real-time issues during deployment and go-live periods through hands-on troubleshooting, log review, triage, and escalation to engineering when needed.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance audits, minor repairs, retrofits, and recalls on deployed AMRs.
  • Deliver training to customer personnel on system operations, maintenance, and best practices.
  • Coordinate with Technical Support, Field Services, and Systems Engineering team members to resolve customer issues and convey field feedback.
  • Manage AMR fleet status, help track repairs, and support documentation updates.

  • 2+ years of experience in technical field service, industrial automation, IT/OT support, robotics, or related discipline.
  • Hands-on mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Basic familiarity with Linux (Ubuntu).
  • Working knowledge of networking concepts, including Ethernet, WiFi, IP addressing, and general connectivity troubleshooting.
  • Experience with AMR/AGV systems integration.
  • Experience working directly with clients and endusers in operational environments.
  • Experience training users on automated equipment or software.
What We Offer:
  • Health Insurance including Medical, Dental and Vision
  • 401k
