Position Overview

Maxim Healthcare & Psychiatric Services is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) to join our dynamic team in Aurora, Illinois. This full-time position offers the flexibility of remote work, primarily serving individuals and families impacted by domestic violence. The ideal candidate will hold a Master's degree in Counseling or a related field and possess an active LCPC license. This role focuses on providing essential therapeutic services, including individual and group therapy, crisis intervention, and community resource advocacy.

Work Environment

This role is primarily remote, allowing for flexibility in how and where you work while maintaining close connections with our clinical team at the Community Health Clinic in Aurora. Counselors will also have opportunities to engage in in-office collaboration for training, team meetings, and supervision. We utilize various telehealth platforms to deliver services effectively, ensuring accessibility for our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and evaluations to determine treatment goals tailored to the needs of clients affected by domestic violence.
  • Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions for women, teens, and children, using evidence-based practices to support emotional and psychological healing.
  • Implement Play Therapy techniques with children, fostering a safe space for expression and healing.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential treatment records in compliance with ethical standards and organizational policies.
  • Participate in clinical supervision meetings regularly to discuss cases and enhance professional development.
  • Provide crisis intervention and emotional support during critical situations, connecting clients with immediate resources as necessary.
  • Advocate for clients' needs within the community, helping to navigate available resources and services.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care and support for clients.
Patient Population / Client Focus

The Counselor will primarily work with individuals and families who have experienced or are currently experiencing domestic violence. Clients include women and teens in need of therapeutic support and children requiring specialized Play Therapy interventions. Building trusting and therapeutic relationships is essential for fostering recovery and facilitating effective treatment.

Qualifications
  • A Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a closely related field is required.
  • An active Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) credential is mandatory.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage case files and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Proficient in using telehealth platforms and electronic health record systems.
  • Availability to work late afternoon hours at least two evenings per week.
  • A valid driver's license to fulfill client transportation and community resource access when necessary.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience with Play Therapy is highly desirable, as it will enhance the range of services we provide to our child clients.
  • Previous experience in individual counseling and family interventions is essential.
  • Availability for some weekend hours is preferred to accommodate client scheduling needs.
Compensation and Benefits

The successful candidate will enjoy a competitive salary ranging from USD 70,000 to 105,000 per year, dependent on experience and qualifications. Additional benefits include dental, vision, and health insurance, access to malpractice insurance, and a performance-based bonus structure. Counselors will also have the opportunity to build their caseload based on availability, ensuring a manageable and rewarding workload.
