What is a Remote Weekend RN?

A Remote Weekend RN is a registered nurse who works remotely, typically from home, providing nursing care, triage, or case management services during weekends. They use telehealth technologies to assess patients, offer medical advice, coordinate care, or manage chronic conditions outside of traditional clinical settings. This role allows nurses to maintain patient care continuity while offering flexibility in scheduling. Weekend shifts are common in this position to ensure patients have access to nursing support outside of standard business hours. Remote Weekend RNs are required to have an RN license and may need experience in telehealth or related fields.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Weekend RN?

To thrive as a Remote Weekend RN, you need a current RN license, strong clinical assessment skills, and experience in telehealth or remote patient care. Familiarity with telemedicine platforms, secure messaging systems, and electronic health records (EHRs) is typically required. Exceptional communication, self-motivation, and time management skills are crucial for providing quality care independently and efficiently from a distance. These competencies ensure that patients receive timely, accurate care and support outside of traditional clinical settings, especially during weekend hours.

What are some common challenges faced by remote weekend RNs, and how can they be managed effectively?

Remote Weekend RNs often encounter challenges such as managing patient care with limited on-site resources, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams outside traditional office hours, and addressing urgent situations remotely. Effective communication skills and familiarity with telehealth platforms are crucial for handling these obstacles. Developing strong organizational habits and staying proactive in following up with patients and colleagues can help ensure a smooth workflow and high-quality care, even during weekends when support staff may be limited.

This full-time, remote position offers flexibility in working hours while allowing you to make a significant impact in the lives of children and families. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in therapeutic practices, particularly in support of individuals with developmental disabilities and cognitive challenges.

About the Organization

At Providence Mental Therapy Session Center, located in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, we are committed to providing high-quality mental health services to children and adolescents facing a multitude of challenges, including developmental and intellectual disabilities. Our mission centers around fostering resilience, promoting emotional well-being, and enhancing the quality of life for our clients and their families. We pride ourselves on our supportive and collaborative workplace, which values diversity and encourages professional growth.

Work Environment

This position is primarily remote, allowing you to conduct therapy sessions in clients' homes or through virtual platforms. While you will have the flexibility to manage your schedule, we encourage you to be available during after-school hours, from 4 PM to 7 PM, to accommodate our clients' needs. Your collaboration with the multidisciplinary Child Family Treatment Team will be pivotal in ensuring comprehensive support for our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct individual treatment sessions with clients tailored to their specific needs, whether within the comfort of their homes or through virtual consultations.
  • Use evidence-based interventions to address issues such as anger management, coping strategies, and social skills development while reducing high-risk behaviors, including self-injurious and aggressive behaviors.
  • Provide guidance to adolescents and their families, enhancing decision-making skills to improve behavioral management at home.
  • Collaborate closely with other professionals within the Child Family Treatment Team to form a united approach in therapeutic interventions.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of sessions, including intake assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes in compliance with organizational standards.
  • Participate in monthly team meetings, contributing insights and recommendations to enhance service delivery.
Patient Population / Client Focus

The primary focus of this role is working with children and adolescents aged 3-20, particularly those grappling with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). Your expertise as a bilingual therapistโ€”especially if you speak Spanish or Portugueseโ€”will be invaluable in reaching and supporting diverse populations. These clients may face challenges such as emotional turmoil, behavioral issues, and difficulty in social integration, all of which require compassionate and skilled therapeutic intervention.

Qualifications
  • A Master's degree in Counseling, Family Therapy, or a related field is required.
  • An active and unrestricted LMFT license is mandatory.
  • Availability for a minimum of 5-10 hours of therapy services per week during designated after-school hours, with weekend availability being a plus.
  • Proficiency in providing positive behavior support strategies is essential.
  • Experience working with children and teenagers, particularly those with intellectual and developmental disabilities, is preferred.
  • A valid driver's license and access to a registered vehicle are required to facilitate home visits.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check, including fingerprinting, is mandatory.
Preferred Experience
  • Previous experience in a remote therapeutic role or teletherapy is advantageous.
  • Experience in crisis intervention and behavior management techniques.
  • Familiarity with various therapeutic modalities, particularly those suited for children and adolescents.
Compensation and Benefits

This role offers a competitive annual salary ranging from USD 80,000 to 100,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Our benefits package includes group health coverage, annual paid time off, short and long-term disability plans, and a 401K retirement savings plan to support your financial future.

Career Growth Opportunities

At Providence Mental Therapy Session Center, we are committed to your professional development. You will have opportunities for ongoing training, mentorship programs, and the chance to participate in specialized workshops and conferences to help you stay at the forefront of your field. Your growth contributes to our mission, and we believe in empowering our team members.
