Senior Payroll Specialist – ADP, Payroll Tax & Client Services

About the Opportunity
InterAction24 is recruiting an experienced Senior Payroll Specialist for an established business services client.
This is not simply a payroll-processing position. We are looking for someone with strong ADP experience and deep backend payroll knowledge, including payroll taxes, compliance, reconciliations, tax notices, deductions, troubleshooting, and complex problem resolution.
The ideal candidate is naturally investigative. When something doesn’t look right, you dig into the records, research the issue, identify the root cause, and take ownership through resolution.
Responsibilities

• Process, review, and audit payroll for multiple client accounts using ADP
• Research and resolve payroll discrepancies and complex client payroll questions
• Troubleshoot ADP payroll, tax, withholding, deduction, and configuration issues
• Handle federal, state, and local payroll tax matters
• Research and assist with resolving IRS and state payroll tax notices
• Work with Forms 941, 940, W-2/W-3, 941-X corrections, and related payroll reporting
• Reconcile payroll liabilities, tax deposits, deductions, and employer/employee contributions
• Manage pre-tax and post-tax deductions, including 401(k), Roth 401(k), HSA, FSA, and benefits
• Support garnishments, levies, child support orders, and other payroll deductions
• Troubleshoot federal/state withholding and unemployment tax issues
• Support multi-state payroll and tax jurisdiction matters
• Perform quarter-end and year-end payroll reconciliations
• Assist with new-client payroll onboarding and ADP payroll setup
• Communicate directly with clients regarding payroll questions and complex issues
• Work with ADP support and government agencies when necessary while independently researching and verifying issues
• Maintain ownership of payroll problems until they are fully resolved

Qualifications

• 4+ years of hands-on payroll experience
• Hands-on ADP payroll experience required
• Strong knowledge of payroll tax, compliance, and reconciliation
• Experience independently investigating and resolving complex payroll problems
• Knowledge of FICA, FUTA, SUTA, federal/state withholding, payroll tax deposits, Forms 941/940, and W-2 reporting
• Experience handling payroll tax notices, corrections, and amendments
• Strong understanding of deductions, garnishments, benefits, and retirement contributions
• Experience with multi-state payroll strongly preferred
• Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent client communication and follow-through
• Ability to independently manage multiple clients and priorities in a remote environment

Highly Preferred
Candidates with experience in any of the following environments are strongly encouraged to apply:

• ADP or an ADP-affiliated/service environment
• Payroll service bureau
• PEO or ASO
• Outsourced payroll/HR provider
• Accounting or CPA firm providing payroll services
• Multi-client payroll operation

Experience using ADP RUN and/or ADP Workforce Now is especially desirable.
