A Remote Web3 job involves working on blockchain-based applications, smart contracts, decentralized finance (DeFi), NFTs, or other Web3 technologies from anywhere in the world. These roles can include development, design, marketing, community management, and more. Web3 jobs often require knowledge of blockchain protocols like Ethereum and programming languages such as Solidity or Rust. Remote Web3 jobs offer flexibility, but they also require staying updated with rapidly evolving technologies.

What does a remote Web3 professional do in a typical day, and how do they interact with their team?

A typical day for a Remote Web3 professional involves collaborating on decentralized application development, reviewing and writing smart contracts, and participating in code reviews or virtual sprint meetings. Communication largely happens through online platforms like Slack, Discord, or GitHub, as teams are often distributed across various time zones. You'll likely spend part of your day keeping up with the latest developments in blockchain technology and participating in community discussions. Close collaboration with product managers, UX designers, and other backend or frontend developers is common to ensure secure and user-friendly solutions. To thrive as a Remote Web3 professional, you need a strong foundation in blockchain technologies, smart contract development (often using Solidity or Rust), and decentralized application (dApp) architecture, usually supported by relevant programming experience. Familiarity with tools such as Ethereum, Web3.js, wallet integrations, Git, and sometimes certifications like Certified Blockchain Developer is highly valuable. Excellent self-management, problem-solving abilities, and clear remote communication skills help differentiate top performers in distributed teams. These skills and qualities are crucial for building reliable decentralized solutions, staying current with rapidly evolving technologies, and collaborating effectively in remote, often global, work environments.

Job description

About this role

We're looking for a Senior Design Engineer to join the Consensys Design team, supporting MetaMask - the most used wallet in crypto. This is a rare opportunity to bring beautiful, intuitive experiences to millions of users engaging with decentralized applications and Web3 technologies every day.

As a Senior Design Engineer, you'll turn complex flows into simple and delightful experiences across our app and browser extension. Working closely with designers, engineers, and product managers, you'll take ideas from prototype to production - sweating the animations, haptics, and micro-interactions that make every interaction feel considered, not just functional. You'll build in React and React Native with an eye for pixel-perfect execution, contribute to our design system, and build agentic workflows that help the team move faster without cutting corners. If you love making complex things feel simple, care about craft down to the smallest detail, and want that craft in the hands of 30M+ users, this role is for you.

What You'll Do

In one sentence: Make MetaMask interactions feel intuitive, fast, and delightful - across mobile and extension

  • Build pixel-perfect interfaces in React and React Native, with obsessive attention to detail.
  • Design and implement animations and micro-interactions that make every tap feel considered.
  • Translate Figma designs into accessible, production-ready experiences with minimal handoff friction.
  • Build agentic workflows and tooling that speed up design-to-code and day-to-day engineering work.
  • Grow the MetaMask design system: reusable, accessible components built to scale across platforms.
  • Move from idea to prototype fast and validate with real users.
  • Push for craft everywhere - the small animation nobody asked for that makes an interaction click.

Key Experience

  • Portfolio demonstrating delightful, polished interfaces and interactions - not just static screens, but the motion and detail that make them feel alive.
  • Proven track record shipping high-traffic, consumer-facing products in React and React Native.
  • Fluency in modern JS/TypeScript and cross-platform frontend architecture: performance, accessibility, and scalable UI patterns
  • An eye for interaction design and motion - you know when animations and haptics earn their place and when they're just noise.
  • Strong Figma literacy - you read a design file like code.
  • Good judgment about when to polish and when to ship.
  • Comfortable working autonomously across a distributed, global team
  • Hands-on experience with crypto wallets, blockchain, or related Web3 products.

Don't meet all the requirements? Don't sweat it. We're passionate about building a diverse team of humans and as such, if you think you've got what it takes for our chaotic-but-fun, remote-friendly, start-up environment-apply anyway, detailing your relevant transferable skills in your cover letter. While we have a pretty good idea of what we need, we're ready for you to challenge our thinking on who needs to be in this role.

It is a requirement of employment in this position that applicants will be required to submit to background checks including but not limited to employment, education and criminal record checks. Further details will be provided to applicants that successfully meet the criteria for the position as determined by the company in its sole discretion. By submitting an application for employment, you are acknowledging and consenting to this requirement.
