Job description

Gabb gives families a better choice for their kids' first technology. Our product portfolio spans purpose-built hardware alongside digital services including Gabb Music and Music+. Everything we build is designed to let families introduce technology in steps, giving kids connection without the harms of a fully open smartphone. We're a fast-growing, mission-driven company headquartered in Lehi, Utah, with a team that genuinely loves what we do and why we do it.

About the Role

Gabb is hiring an Art Director to own the visual direction of the brand across every place a family meets us - product, packaging, web, social, email, paid media, and retail. You'll set the creative standard, lead the design team, and turn brand strategy into work that earns parents' trust on sight.

This is a builder's seat. You'll define the visual language, build the systems and templates that keep quality high as volume scales, and hold every asset to a high bar - creative that looks unmistakably like Gabb and moves the numbers that matter. You'll report to the Sr. Director of Marketing & Creative, lead a team of designers, and stay close enough to the work to shape it directly. We're based in Lehi and work a hybrid schedule, but we're open to exceptional out-of-state candidates - if you're remote and right for this role, we want to hear from you.

What You'll Do
CREATIVE DIRECTION & BRAND LEADERSHIP
-Own the visual direction of the Gabb brand across every customer touchpoint; advertising, web, email, social, packaging, retail, and product.
-Develop creative concepts and visual systems, and lead execution for campaigns, product launches, and promotions.
-Hold the line on brand standards. Review and approve assets before they ship, balancing performance goals with brand integrity.
TEAM LEADERSHIP & DEVELOPMENT
-Lead, mentor, and develop the design team. Set creative standards, workflows, and expectations.
-Build the templates, brand frameworks, and digital asset management that keep work consistent and efficient as volume grows.
-Direct and give feedback on design, motion graphics, and animation.
CROSS-FUNCTIONAL PARTNERSHIP
-Partner across marketing, product, and retail to understand needs, shape creative solutions, and present concepts.
-Manage multiple projects at once against real deadlines and competing priorities.
CREATIVE PERFORMANCE & AI INNOVATION
-Use performance data, testing, and customer feedback to sharpen creative effectiveness across channels.
-Evaluate and adopt AI-powered creative tools and workflows that improve output, following Gabb's guidelines for responsible AI use.

What We're Looking For
EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
-Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, Marketing, or a related field.
-8+ years of professional design experience, including 2+ years leading creative.
-A strong portfolio showcasing your brand architecture experience across advertising, print, digital, packaging, and retail - work you led from concept through execution.
-Advanced proficiency in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite, plus hands-on use of AI-powered creative tools to improve real output.
-Sharp creative judgment, visual storytelling, and the communication skills to present and sell the work.
-Consumer technology experience.
-Work with family or parenting brands.
-Direct-to-consumer experience - ideally including a brand's expansion from D2C into traditional retail.
-Knowledge of web design, UX/UI, motion graphics, photography, and content production; familiarity with performance marketing and creative testing.
WHO YOU ARE

-A brand steward who protects a visual identity and pushes it forward at the same time.

-A systems thinker who builds the templates, workflows, and standards that let quality scale.

-A hands-on leader who develops a team and stays close enough to the work to elevate it directly.

-Data-aware - you hold creative to a high aesthetic bar and a measurable performance bar.

-Comfortable with autonomy in a fast-moving environment where the roadmap evolves quickly.

-Genuinely interested in Gabb's mission and the family technology space.
