Job description

VP of Marketing and Communications

Remote (Los Angeles or Washington DC strongly preferred)

About the Company

A fast-scaling defense technology company that has eliminated traditional tooling — converting digital designs into precision metal parts in days across airframes, missiles, hypersonics, and advanced weapons programs. Backed by some of the most recognized names in aerospace, defense, and technology, already embedded in the most consequential U.S. defense programs running right now and building the infrastructure to scale further.

If you want to work on hard problems that matter and see them fly, drive, and defend, this is the place.

The Role

Post Series C and scaling fast, this company is building the marketing function to match its ambitions. The VP of Marketing will inherit a small existing team and be responsible for evolving it into a high-performance organization — sharpening the brand, expanding defense sector presence, and building credibility with DoW stakeholders, Defense Primes, and government audiences.

This is equal parts strategy and execution. The right person can set the vision and roll up their sleeves to get it done without a large support apparatus around them.

What You'll Own

  • Build and scale the company's presence within the defense sector — developing credibility with Defense Primes, program offices, and government stakeholders through bold, targeted campaigns and strategic industry engagement
  • Own company-level positioning, messaging architecture, and narrative — and keep it sharp as the company grows
  • Scale marketing capabilities across brand, content, PR, events, digital, and field marketing
  • Lead, develop, and expand the existing marketing team
  • Partner closely with BD, Sales, Product, and Executive Leadership to support long-cycle defense and enterprise sales
  • Drive awareness campaigns across strategic global accounts

Background and Experience

  • 10+ years of progressive marketing leadership with VP-level responsibility or ready to step into it
  • Proven experience building and executing marketing strategy within the defense sector — specifically with DoW audiences, Defense Primes, or government stakeholders
  • Track record of building or scaling marketing organizations at a Series B, C, or high-growth defense tech company
  • Experience owning positioning for complex, technical, or mission-critical technologies
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-moving environment where strategy and execution are not separate jobs
  • Strong instinct for what cuts through in the defense community — not legacy prime marketing, something bolder

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current or recent experience at a high-growth defense tech startup or dual-use technology company
  • Background in advanced manufacturing, robotics, AI, or industrial hardware
  • Familiarity with automotive OEM or Tier 1 supplier marketing a plus
  • Los Angeles or Washington DC based preferred

Compensation

$200,000 – $250,000 base | Stock Options | Medical, Dental, Vision | PTO

Compensation determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
